And I totally agree with him

EDIT:
Thanks to Bradyns for posting the video of the speech to make up for the OP's forgetfulness.
He's right. The Bible also says that no sin is greater than the other. So according to the Bible, homosexuals should be allowed all rights that everyone else has.
I never get why events like political rallies and such have people sitting behind the speaker.
Could they only afford one camera angle, but still want to show that there's people there?
He got so little applause for such a good speech.
He got so little applause for such a good speech.
I'm not even in the same country as him and even I clapped, really well done speech.
I don't think those people were smart enough to realize what he did there, hence the reduced applause
it's time our world modernized. why can't we have religion and gay rights? I seriously think that religion needs serious reforms

personally i feel it's time that organized religion ended altogether.
personally i feel it's time that organized religion ended altogether.
At least start with Catholics. I seriously don't care whether or not someone is religious, unless they honor the chief cunt in the Vatican, then they can fuck right off.
It was okay.
I don't mind religion, all I just hate are fanatics forcing it on one another throat's, and murdering people over religious belief. Religion is great from making nice stories, myths, and other interesting things, but never should people take it so seriously and become blind to the modern world of today and reject everything that is coming to this world (new computers, better medical technology and techniques, etc).
It's not my right to judge people who should marry who, as it only that person decision who can marry who. All that I care for people is making sure they marry the right guy/girl that can treat them nice and not live a bad life full of crime, drama, and other negative things that reflect the family relationship looks broken and full of conflict then it is peaceful and promising.

Ha! Bigotry at its most ironic.
Ha! Bigotry at its most ironic.
i don't understand. how is it bigoted, let alone ironic? is it bigoted to say you think the KKK should not exist?
[editline]21st October 2012[/editline]
i have no problem with the people who understand the concept of their own spirituality and derive personal comfort from the ideas behind religion. however, i have no tolerance for those who profess that contraception is of the devil and homosexuality will send you to hell. to call me bigoted in the face of religion is some tough talk

it's a city council meeting, he's speaking to a board
i was watching this and thinking "why is this getting winners what the fuck is happening"
then it got to the end and i said aloud "oooooooooooooooooooooooh"
great speech, great presentation, i feel bad that more people weren't clapping for it
Lets see, the definition of bigotry is showing blaring intolerance for other people's beliefs.
Here you're saying you want organized religion as a whole to end because of the opinions and actions of a few out of this group?
Lets see, organized religion. Buddhism, Hinduism, Christianity, Judaism, Islam, etc
Now I understand that everyone, including you and me, is bigoted in some way. And I perfectly understand that you wont tolerate the absurdness that some religious people can go to... But "organized religion" is blanketing a lot of fucking people here who may have never even done anything related to what you're claiming. Even if some people from one religion bursts out with their guns a blazing at Gay rights, abortion laws, etc. it doesnt mean that everyone from that religion as a whole is a complete scumbag
Just look at me. I don't say that atheism should fuck itself because of the opinions of some people who happen to be anti-theist as well. And neither should you say organized religion should go fuck itself, because not everyone involved in it is an asshole. To do so would be to be grossly bigoted.

The difference is that the doctrines and stated beliefs of Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Mormonism, and Hinduism all run contrary to a truly just society. I mean if you claimed to follow the teachings of Jesus, or Moses, or Mohammed, shouldn't I be able to criticize it in the same way as if you said you followed the teachings of Stalin, Hitler, Romney, Obama, or any other political or philosophical leader?
Isn't it unfair that I can make claims about someone's philosophy and beliefs when they say they are "Democrat" but not when they say they are "Christian"?

organized religion isnt 'blanketing' anyone you idiot
people can have their spirituality, but shouldn't subject themselves to the will of a higher body of power within faith, and major characters within organized religion have played a massive role in fucking up parts of the world which are already in poverty.
of course your average christian soccer mom isn't going to be the cause of intolerance. but organized religion is 100% accountable, and for the reason that it is a danger to society, it should be dismantled.
i'll be as 'bigoted' as i want about the ideals of those who pose a threat to equality.
He got so little applause for such a good speech.
TBH the speech was good but the delivery was not
It took me a second to really clue in on what he was saying, he just kind of changes gears in the speech without warning and it felt very forced
But still nice speech

Comparing the KKK to the Catholic Church is way too extreme
Yeah, there are plenty of members of the Catholic Church that are major douche bags, but you don't become a member of the Catholic Church thinking "man, I HATE homosexuality," but you do go into the KKK saying "man, I'd LOVE some white, Protestant supremacy around here"
So by that logic, Richard Dawkins should go kill himself.
Calling me an "idiot" doesn't make your statement any stronger, and organized religion could mean something as small as a church led by a pastor. Maybe even the pastor in the OP.
And without organized religion we might have fewer things such as medical missions to third world countries. A mission like this usually requires some sort of organization and with organized religion that kind of organization is... Kinda already in place. I won't have to rally people from around town to join me in bringing medical relief to the underserved people of Thailand, I can just rally them at my church, because after all, it is in our religion to be the good samaritan.

Good point. I'm not sure how valid this is but I've always thought that religion is a bit... closer the core of humanity?

Since there were winners I foresaw him doing something like this and didn't believe him for a second.
Wait, is this guy for gay rights or against them, I assume that since everyone here is on his side that he is for them. But I am not sure, since the title says anti gay rights. Can't really view the video right now, so could someone let me know?

Sorry about the slightly misleading title; I did it to stay true to the element of surprise, which this speech heavily relies on in order to get the full potency of the pastor's statement
[editline]20th October 2012[/editline]
Also, fuck me; I should thank Bradyns for posting the video because I forgot to.

He pretends he's anti-gay rights, giving a long, extensive speech against gay rights. To that end, he gve an anti-gay-rights speech.
Then he says that he actually directly quoted pastors from the same town in 1950, who were opposed to racial integration. He changed all instances of "racial integration" to "gay rights" in the speech. So he was actually commenting on the similarity of the oppression of gays to that of blacks. To that end, he was pro-gay-rights.
Reminds me of the pastor at my church. Also, applauded pretty damn hard at the end.
