US presidential hopeful Donald Trump has said it is a "great thing" that the people of the UK have "taken back their country" in voting to leave the EU.
His comments came as he arrived at Trump Turnberry for the reopening of the refurbished Open venue golf resort.
Mr Trump added his name to the Ayrshire hotel and golf course after buying the resort for an undisclosed fee in 2014.
Protests are expected against the presumptive Republican nominee by those who accuse him of "racism and bigotry".
Mr Trump's comments about the referendum, and the protest against him, may overshadow the official reopening of the Trump Turnberry resort - his second golf venue in Scotland
The US property billionaire's business links with Scotland began a decade ago as he promised to create a legacy to his mother Mary MacLeod, who was born in Stornoway in the Outer Hebrides.
Mr Trump owns more than a dozen golf resorts in the US and opened his first in the UK, at the Menie estate in Aberdeenshire, in 2012 after controversy surrounding planning, environmental issues and clashes with local people who refused to move.
He acquired the Turnberry resort from Dubai-based Leisurecorp two years ago before adding his name to the brand as part of a multi-million pound refurbishment
Them didn't seem too bothered when he showed up and they were all in a line wearing MAGA hats.
But kind of odd to talk about the Leave victory in Scotland lmao
probably isn't a good idea to praise the referendum's outcome in scotland
Man, it's gonna be great when Scotland leaves the UK and remains part of the EU. Trumps golf course is still gonna be in the EU.
You know I thought that title was going to be directly taken from BBC or a tabloid, then again this is Facepunch soooo..
Remain was supposed to be such a sure thing, and that turned out just spectacularly. Clinton is supposed to be a sure thing and yet...
I knew something felt a little off when i woke up, like a disturbance in the force or something.
If i lived near the golf course he's visiting, i would had worn my Mexican outfit i have lying around, give me a reason to wear my poncho and sombrero again from Halloween.

in a dream world scenario that would happen, but it looks very unlikely.

Leaving the EU looked very unlikely. But still happened.

If I recall, they might be voting for a new leave, since the last 'no' was largely chalked up on the fact that a EU membership would be hard to secure if they left the UK and Scotland loves the EU like a fat kid loves cake.

I don't think he cares if it's inside or outside honestly.

Can't wear that outfit in the US, it's racist.

He's had a few mishaps recently, he wouldn't fire his campaign manager if things were going well. Still too early to call it either way.

Good thing he's not in the US?

He also showed up to people flying the Mexican flag and savaging him on twitter in that unique Scottish fashion of speaking, but make of that what you will.

Excuse me good sir, but that would be cultural appropriation and I'm afraid I will have to ask you to get in the back of my happy van for re-education. :clown:

There are still millions of supporters there. They're just not majority. Do you think having 51% of the population support your idea is the minimum you need to praise something? No, that's silly.

Do you think having 52% of the voting population support a stupid idea, to be sufficient to commit to it?
