Stand Down Dodge and Chevy, Ford Has The Fastest Police Car
The new turbocharged Ford Taurus modified into its Police Interceptor sedan proved faster than Chevrolet Caprice V-8 and Dodge Charger with a Hemi V-8 in tests by the Michigan State Police, according to Ford.
Ford's turbocharged police version of the Explorer crossover SUV was faster than a Chevrolet Tahoe.
"Agencies tell us if the bad guys see the police vehicle quickly close in pursuit, they're less likely to try to run,"
says Bill Gubing, a Ford chief engineer, in a statement. "If this can help reduce the number of high-speed chases, then we could improve public safety on our nation's roads."
The Ford Taurus for police, with an EcoBoost turbocharged engine and all-wheel drive, rocketed from zero to 60 miles per hour in 5.66 seconds. That compares to 6.04 seconds for the 5.7-liter Hemi-equipped Dodge Charger and 6.01 seconds in the Chevrolet Caprice with a 6-liter V-8.
In personal experience, I back up these claims.

I'm sure ours would give theirs a run for their money.
EDIT
From those tables, it's pretty clear that Ford has the fastest acceleration, but it isn't the "fastest".. it's top speed is less than the Chevy Caprice.
Chevy Caprice is the exact same thing as your holden there. Same car.

That's because they're fords :v:

Make that bad boy all black and it'd look hot.
The Panther models will still always be the best looking cop car for me, though some of the new ones come pretty close.

The Ford Taurus is such a sick car.
That looks bitchin as hell.
the car itself looks pretty good, but the yellow and blue on the side kind of ruins it for me.

It's actually the checkers that's the best part for me.

I am not. And the last I saw, MSP still has gumdrop lights on all their cars.. is that still true, or do they now have actual lightbars

Doesn't look like it. I take it you drive one of the Interceptors in the article though? How do you like it?

I haven't seen the gumdrop lights in ages, but that might be because all the police cars around here are either undercover or are of the Dodge Charger variety with the lightbars on top.

Oh, I think I've seen those, but only on the highways.

I still drive a 2007 CVPI until it hits the mile marker to get a new one, but I got to test the Tauruses before we bought them.
The first thing I liked about it was the seat, column shifter, and steering wheel. The rear seating seems smaller but thats not my problem.
We did some 'testing' (aka, ran them to hell and back) at night where there was no traffic on highways/streets.. there wasnt a night where the car didnt smell of brake pads and antifreeze and oil while testing them. The AWD is the big dealmaker
They're awesome. If you can get a Taurus SHO you'll have a fucking blast.

They do 0-60 in better times and we don't need huge 6L engines to drink masses of petrol while they're on patrol. They might not be able to ram cars off the road as easy or take as much of a beating though i guess.
