My other thread is at least 4 weeks dead and was originally supposed to be specifically for 3D modeling, but I ended up putting a lot of drawings in there instead. So I'm setting up this new thread for all my artistic endeavors, be it 3D modeling, drawing, writing, whatever.
I haven't been drawing as much as I should lately, been feeling uninspired. However I found it in myself today to get started on a brand new redesign for my character Selene. Here's a WIP shot. She'll be wearing more clothing this time, before anyone asks. I started doing research on belts and armor that I think look cool and I think the new design will reflect that. She'll look more like someone who can defend herself and less like a tragic maiden in bondage gear.
I've also been working with a friend who's been helping me iron out the wrinkles in Selene's design and story. She's going to be rewritten as a much stronger character, one the audience will actually be able to sympathize with. I'll post more on that later.

putting your best foot forward as always, huh brohame
just like ooold times
oh, uh, work on your line consistency. You're making the leather straps look all hairy by using such short strokes.
nice focus
well we can see very clearly that you traced it over what i assume is one of your 3d models?
dont do that. especially since your 3d models would be pretty flawed

It's not one of mine, actually. I'm just using it purely as a template for the outfit.

Is this the same Selene as TH89 once mentioned in his masterpiece, "What's Your Deal, Ryu-Gi?"
Her name is Selene
She was a priestess in a place
Where an elf brainwashed her to suck penis and get raped
Like I think I said last time can we see more stuff that isn't just the same character over and over?
However it is nice to see that you're actually trying to improve her from being just a 13 year old's fantasy.
now its a 15 year old's fantasy
needs more naked.
Less characters more studies.
Here's some stuff from my Drawing and Composition class I'm taking. both are done in charcoal on newsprint. I'm starting to have a real appreciation for traditional media, charcoal is actually kind of cool to draw with.

Okay, make sure you don't pet your lines like that. Draw with your arm and make nice long lines.
Second, draw the values instead of the contours.
Some lighting practice from the same class. The rimlighting is a bit off I think, but oh well.

i have a commission for you. draw me as an elf chained to the wall and have my master beat me with a giant spoon.
Progress on the redesign of Selene. For the first time I have her midriff covered up on a main design.

//
Decided to take a break from Selene and work on a drawing for a friend of mine who won a contest I did a couple weeks ago. It's a drawing of one of his own characters.

That's a good start! Now you should give her some pants so we can't see her buttcheeks from the front.
Moreover, something to consider: an author's indulgence of personal desires--whether it's a random obsession (e.g. Tom Clancy & weapons) or over-attachment to characters, or something more fetishistic--is widely considered to be the antithesis of good storytelling.
The level of boobs here is shockingly low

~2.00001 per capita by my count.
Finally continued work on that drawing of my friend's character. She's still a WIP.

Here's the character sheet he made of his character I'm using for reference:

Got dammit

no no no man
you do WAY too much chicken scratching
you should do your lines as strong and defined
when you chicken scratch, you end up messing your clean copy
i didn't realise cloth wings were in this season
Yeah I don't know how to stop doing the chicken scratch thing. Every time I try to do one long precise line it ends up looking squiggly.
I've been trying to lower the sensitivity but it hasn't done much. Any suggestions on other ways to fix my problem?
How big is your tablet? I had a hard time drawing straight/swooping lines on my small-size intuos and I recently got a large sized one and it's a huge improvement, I can draw with my arm instead of my wrist. I don't know if that's an option for you, but I thought I'd put it forward.

My tablet is a "VisTablet" that's got a 6x10 inch drawing surface. The only sensitivity option I've found for it adjusts how hard I need to press the pen to make the line bigger, but nothing on making it track less of my movement.
It looks like this:

EDIT:Someone on another forum brought up the issue of her proportions-she's flat in the reference but I gave her a much more obvious bust. I brought it up with my friend. He told me he specifically made the character flat because she's supposed to be lightweight and bird-like. So I'll be making adjustments to make her skinnier and flatter.
EDIT AGAIN: Okay, wow
My friends have told me recently about "Painter Tool SAI Portable". They use it for their drawings, and I gotta say, this is EXACTLY what I've been looking for to help me with my chicken-scratch problem. It has a brush smoothing option that makes it less sensitive to the little motions that keep making my lines jittery, which means I'll be able to make long steady strokes with this thing. I'm definetley going to be using it for my lineart from now on, then I'll import it to photoshop for coloring.
Phone Camera photo of some practice doing folded fabric in class. I realize this is something I need to improve it so I'm looking forwards to practicing this more:
