I can see why he'd want to show his support but, (as said below) just about anyone who plays minecraft already hates SOPA and knows about it.
So it will be like every other day when we can't connect to the servers.
So it will be like every other day when we can't connect to the servers.
Exactly
Wow, Congressmen totally play Minecraft.
"In support of SOPA" had me worried Notch turned on us.
Silently, so why did he announce it?
Makes no fucking sense, most MC players are against SOPA. This is to make people who don't know about SOPA or are for SOPA show what will happen once it passes. I know it's just delivering a message, but this is just like Reddit.
Seems like notch is just hopping on the popular bandwagon.

Awfully worded title, holy shit.
It defeats the fucking purpose of taking down the site if you warn everyone about it [editline]13th January 2012[/editline]
Seems like notch is just hopping on the popular bandwagon.
Has he ever done anything different?
Title's completely wrong, it's going down in protest against it.
Change the title to "Minecraft downtime in the PROTEST against SOPA"
its pretty good that notch is doing this. no matter what anyone thinks of him as a person
I hope people don't forget Protect IP should SOPA fail. Protect IP is pretty much the Plan B that can be smuggled in while everyone is celebrating SOPA's downfall.
I now support sopa
Seeing Notch try to "tag-along" with this stuff just makes me embarrassed. Also a silent takedown, nice! People will think it's just server problems and won't be informed about SOPA whatsoever, good job Notch!
I now support sopa
If you're willing to support something you disagree with just because a video game you don't like was made by someone who doesn't like it, then you really need help.
Why would you be embarrassed for him? He's a millionaire I doubt he cares about people being 'embarrassed' for him.
Really? I bet there are at least 1 million minecraft players don't even know what SOPA is
There's like half a million who don't understand what Congress is
Title's completely wrong, it's going down in protest against it.
This just in, Rents to go down in support of incorrect titles
Why would you be embarrassed for him? He's a millionaire I doubt he cares about people being 'embarrassed' for him.
I'm quite aware, but he's like the little puppy dog who follows everyone around.
This is actually a good thing. Their government will have a crap load of twelve years old kids whining at them about not being able to post their Minecraft fan art on their forums. SOPA is sure to fail now!
This just in, Rents to go down in support of incorrect titles
People might notice that more, I don't go down half as often as Notch's servers.
Next time OP should be more concerned about making a title that actually matches the information of his post instead of rushing it out ahead of any other poster that might make it.
Why would he do that? We know what it would be like with SOPA, all the websites don't need to be shut down to show us that.
I don't understand why people like minecraft are stopping their services, the only people who use it are already against SOPA so you're basically preaching to the converted. It's a waste of time and an inconvenience, it just seems like a bit of a bandwagon stunt.
Next time OP should be more concerned about making a title that actually matches the information of his post instead of rushing it out ahead of any other poster that might make it.
Everyone makes mistakes man Anyways, thanks to the mod that fixed the title.
