Crikey – Kotaku have just reported that The War Z has just been removed from Steam. There was word earlier today that Valve were looking into forum moderation issues regarding the game, but people were hopeful they’d dig somewhat deeper into the real issues that had been raised, regarding the apparent false advertising of features on its store page. Those have been changed since, but for whatever reason the game is now not available to purchase. It is listed instead as “Uninitialized”. If you already own it, however, your Steam copy will still run.
We’ve just received a statement from Valve about the game, explaining that it’s been removed because they consider it was issued prematurely, and they’re offering refunds to unhappy customers. You can read the statement below.
Valve’s Doug Lombardi responds to our asking why the game is no longer on sale saying,
“From time to time a mistake can be made and one was made by prematurely issuing a copy of War Z for sale via Steam. We apologize for this and have temporary removed the sale offering of the title until we have time to work with the developer and have confidence in a new build. Those who purchase the game and wish to continue playing it via Steam may do so. Those who purchased the title via Steam and are unhappy with what they received may seek a refund by creating a ticket at our support site here.
Again, we apologize any inconvenience.”

thank fucking god, how could they have ever put it up on steam in the first place
I love Valve as much as the next guy, they're a great company. But I hope this teaches them a lesson about what they put on steam and what they don't. Revelations 2012 stayed on steam because the developers aren't money eating bastards.
glorious gaben comes to save the day

Good luck with that, Valve. Considering everything in this game is just from another flopped game.
Good thing they removed it, it's not close to being ready to be released and it's starting to look like a disaster the way the devs handle things.
Good, It never deserved to be on steam. Or even deserve to be bought.
Here's a video I just saw showing the previous store page if anyone's curious about the false advertising, pretty much every single line in the "key features" were blatant lies

In my opinion the game looks like it could be a fun alternative to Arma 2's DayZ mod, but it certainly doesn't deserve anything like that right now because it is unfinished as fuck
Am I only one who read the statement in Gabes voice?
Alright this thread makes it so much worse now, bunch of assholes.
I hate to point and laugh at a dev that worked on a game, but they fucking deserve this for being such assholes toward their game.
Everything about War Z is just bad.
Oh boy I can't wait to hear a response from the devs about this.
I bet they are all going to be whiny cunts.
the developers were probably easy to trust because they made War Inc, and that game stayed in action for a little while. it wasn't the best F2P, but i liked it.

They pretty much blamed it on the buyers "misreading" the text and imagining that they read something different than what was written :downs:
rip the war z
I really regret buying this game back in October. It guess it was kind of worth it though, you can't appreciate how horrible it really is unless you've bought and played the game...
Blunder of the century
Also the r/thewarz mod is being a sperg and telling everyone to donate their refunds to charity for some reason

But, their executive producer helped make this.

Oh ho ho ho, that could be said about many other game on Steam.

They've been blaming everything on the customers so far.
I am talking about after valve removing it from steam and holding all their money hostage to issue refunds
why are we praising valve for removing this, they shouldn't have approved it in the first place
why are we praising valve for removing this, they shouldn't have approved it in the first place
at least they're willing to put an end to the trainwreck
If this was Origin we would of got a letter saying "Well, we got your money now so what are you complaining about?"
I hope these shitstains crash and burn forever.
Even better, get sued the shit out and made sure that they will never get a job in the game industry.
If they'd have waited and not been cunts to their customers it could have been good.
why are we praising valve for removing this, they shouldn't have approved it in the first place
Don't they add a new game or program to Steam every 5 or so minutes, though? I'd imagine they don't have enough people or time to be preventative.
