Ubisoft's told Eurogamer that its "online services platform" for PC games will "evolve and improve" and is most certainly here to stay. "Most forthcoming Ubisoft PC titles will use our online services platform," a spokesperson explained, adding, "As with any online technology, we are constantly working to evolve and improve it." Ubisoft's online platform requires PC gamers to be connected to the internet while they play. But problems arise when authentication servers are unavailable or unresponsive. This was felt first with Assassin's Creed II and Silent Hunter V and then more recently with Settlers 7. The result has been fans unable to play games they've purchased, sometimes for days at a time. Upcoming Ubisoft PC titles include Splinter Cell Conviction, Pure Football, R.U.S.E., I Am Alive TrackMania 2, Prince of Persia: Forgotten Sands and Ghost Recon Future Soldier. It won't change.
Yeah, evolve, improve, and be cracked in about a minute after release, rendering all of it, worthless.
If Trackmania 2 has this shit I'm just going to off myself
GG Noobisoft
They can begin with buying better servers instead.
What's stupid though is that people that pirate these games just skip all this shit and don't need to stay connected to the internet while they play. So all you do is end up fucking over your customers.
shit it's sentient shit protect john connor
DRM is going to ruin the gaming industry, well what ever EA leaves behind.
fuck ubisoft
God dammit, it won't last.
If Trackmania 2 has this shit I'm just going to off myself
Don't do it man. We love you. I love you.
Don't do it man. We love you. I love you.
life without trackmania is a life unbearable
steam is the only DRM that you should pay for ever
life without trackmania is a life unbearable
I've never played track mania, so i'm alright :smug: As for the rest of the games mentioned, i don't usually play games from Ubisoft ( except from an odd couple of hours on Far Cry 2.
It's kinda funny how other Publishers are trying to make decent DRMs and failing while Steam has little to no issues. Either Steam is exceptionally well done or other Publishers aren't even trying to make something user friendly.
They're probably losing more money than they're trying to prevent from pirates.
If Trackmania 2 has this shit I'm just going to off myself
I was all like ubisoft don't make any games I care about oh wait FUCK
Wait, Trackmania 2? On the other side, I play TM mostly online so v:saddowns:v
It's annoying as hell that legit customers have to put up with their shit DRM and pirates have it easier than legit customers
It's not perfect right... but it does work. ACII has yet to have a 100% working crack so the system in general is pretty flawless. All they need to do is ensure that their servers NEVER go down... EVER. I can kinda see where they're coming from, I'm not happy about it, but it's definitely the biggest blow to pirates so far so they'd be stupid not to pursue it. I genuinely think the pirates have lost this one :( Also all you folk saying they should just use steam, you can get cracked versions of steam with shitloads of games on them. Steam isn't pirate-proof by any means.
This just in, Ubisoft is the new Electronic Arts. -snip- Don't want to get banned for "hinting at warez" again for no reason.

I can't ever connect to the servers anyway, so I can't even play.
Goddamn, I need to get constant cable internet out here. Until then, Steam and this DRM shit make a lot of fun games unplayable.
You do understand there is a working server emulator for AC2 right?
Yep, it seems it can play all the missions easy without a hitch I've heard. So Ubisoft has yet again been cracked and the server emu can probably be adjusted for a different game anyway.
Well ruse looked good. But this is something that prevents me from buying it.
drm kills companies. they don't realise they are basically committing suicide if they use drm. sure you will always get pirates, but if you piss off customers with shitty drm, you'll end up with more pirates.
Our DRM will plague their will!
"Improve and evolve" Translation: "We're finding new ways to fuck over the people who actually paid for our shit"
