Sorry for the shit video, its all I could find. Skip to 2:00...
The UN and Amnesty International condemned the alleged killings which reportedly took place after the rebels seized army checkpoints on Thursday. Footage apparently shows the rebels beating soldiers before shooting them. Unconfirmed reports say troops have now quit all bases near the strategic northern town of Saraqeb. The town lies near both the main Damascus-Aleppo highway and the highway linking Aleppo to the coastal city of Latakia - making it doubly strategic. The army, meanwhile, continued its air strikes across Syria on Thursday. In all, more than 150 people reportedly died in fighting, said the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), a UK-based activist group. The SOHR said that among the victims were more than 70 government soldiers, 43 civilians and 38 rebels. The claim has not been independently verified. In a separate development, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, international peace envoy Lakhdar Brahimi and Arab League Secretary General Nabil el-Araby would meet in Cairo on Sunday to discuss the Syrian crisis, the Arab League announced.
bbc guardian
so much for them being the moral victors
so much for them being the moral victors
It's not like all rebels are "good." I assume when given the chance the rebels would execute the soldiers in some sort of pay back for family members, friends, etc, who are or were killed in massacres or bombs.
It's not like all rebels are "good." I assume when given the chance the rebels would execute the soldiers in some sort of pay back for family members, friends, etc, who are or were killed in massacres or bombs.
95% of rebels aren't even Syrian.
so much for them being the moral victors
Do you realize how many different rebel groups there are in Syria? They fight the same enemy, but want different things, so it can't be broken down to just two sides against each other. Groups of Islamist rebels are especially getting prominent in the fight.
so much for them being the moral victors
you'd have to be mad to not realize both sides are exactly the same people under different flags

Cycle of revenge, etcetera etcetera.
you'd have to be mad to not realize both sides are exactly the same people under different flags
well the media kept portraying them as morally superior
Another country down the shitter.
95% of rebels aren't even Syrian.
Haha yeah, they just ferry in divisions' worth of Libyans and CIA agents every month or so.
Haha yeah, they just ferry in divisions' worth of Libyans and CIA agents every month or so.
Did he say "CIA Agents" or "Libyans" ? I must have missed that part.
95% of rebels aren't even Syrian.
uh what?
95% of rebels aren't even Syrian.
Where did you get this figure?
Where did you get this figure?
The Daily Asspull.
95% of the jihadists in Syria aren't even Syrian.
fixed
Those men that killed those soldiers are in my opinion no better than the soldiers and savages that hurt poor civilians.
Rebel scum
Rebel scum
Why do I always read that in the emperors voice?
It's not like all rebels are "good." I assume when given the chance the rebels would execute the soldiers in some sort of pay back for family members, friends, etc, who are or were killed in massacres or bombs.
There has been a lot of reports that the rebels have adopted the tactics of the very people they're fighting. Often throwing bodies off of roof tops, executions, etc. In all reality nothing has changed, the only difference is it is a new flag flying but the same atrocities are happening. There is no excuse...
Called this way before, but alas you all thought they are saints fighting for freedom. They are no better than the government soldiers. If they manage to take over, it will be even worse for Syrians.
so much for them being the moral victors
There's no better side in war, and you leave morals at the door.
Damn they unloaded their guns. Jesus
Everyone who doesn't have their heads up their ass knows good and well that the rebels in Syria have committed just as many atrocities as the Syrian state. And yes, a fair portion are foreign volunteers and jihadists from out of country, but by no means is the proportion 95%.
I think many people look at the war in Syria and think of it as a 'good guys' and 'bad guys' scenario and, of course, this idealized conception of war is nothing like the actual thing. There's no good or bad, just people. There can be saints and massive fucks on both sides.
I think that if people want a broader understanding of what exactly is going on here, they should research the Spanish Civil War of the 1930's. Seems to be somewhat similar though the masks and identities of the puppeteers are different.
well the media kept portraying them as morally superior
People are taught that there's only good and bad, so you have to portray one side as good and one as bad. [editline]2nd November 2012[/editline] Ratings man.
Called this way before, but alas you all thought they are saints fighting for freedom. They are no better than the government soldiers. If they manage to take over, it will be even worse for Syrians.
I don't think there is a "proper" way to overthrow a dictatorship, it's a civil war, you think they're going to act gentlemanly about it? Not saying all of them are like this, but how many of there family members/friends were killed? Don't say you would just remain on the sidelines when the Syrian government started this slaughter.
It's a civil war, and people are surprised both sides are acting like this? Shit. The only thing that made America's Civil War more civil was the fact that we got Tabasco Sauce out of it
Killing someone and pray for Allah... weird... Actually eu is wrong.. They always blame turks for barbarians... Real barbarians is they are because. They only watching...
Just some bad apples out of the many there. There was a news story where 56 or some odd-number of Syrian POW's were being held by the FSA strictly under the ground rules set by the Geneva Conventions. One source I could find (not about the 56 specifically): http://armedgroups-internationallaw.org/2012/07/31/free-syrian-army-announce-they-will-apply-geneva-conventions-and-welcome-icrc/
