MADHYA PRADESH (Shyampur) : A new incidence of religion conversion came into the light in Sagar district of Madhya Pradesh . Christian missionaries allegedly converted around 70 children who are orphans and dwelling in an orphanage run by the Christian group. Father Rojan Christian is the chief administrative, who run the orphanage and his name is found on the paper as these children’s father. There are many children who have lost their own names being in this orphanage . They have lost their original identity. Mr. Omkar Singh ,an RTI activist who works for the child welfare in this district found it by noticing the name of ‘Rogen Christian’ as the father of 70 children.
http://www.literalindia.com/latest-news/orphans-allegedly-converted-into-christian-1254 It's better than the fucking caste system, thats for sure.
Do these children even understand either faith? Let the kid be kids, man. They shouldn't have to think about an afterlife or obeying arbitrary tradition and rules. Let them have some freedom.
Do these children even understand either faith?
They probably would understand Christianity a bit more but i'd guess neither of those.
I heard that Christians were always regarded highly in the caste system
I heard that Christians were always regarded highly in the caste system
I've heard that conversions to christianity were most regular for the lower class, to escape the caste system. It's one of the reasons why there are christians in Pakistan, they are descendants of people that converted during the time of the British Raj.

That sounds a bit fishy.
Kids being converted in general is still pretty awful, they don't even fully understand the concept of anything. If you have to convert children for your religion to keep up its numbers, I think that says something. (not anything good)
Would you say the same thing about colleges pushing liberal political views? If not, then you may be a hypocrite.

I doubt they were forced to convert at gunpoint.
Would you say the same thing about colleges pushing liberal political views? If not, then you may be a hypocrite.
It's not the same. First off, there's a massive difference in maturity level. Second, academic inquiry into any subject is bound to give rise to views that question the establishment. It doesn't have to be a pointed effort in the same way religious indoctrination is.
Are they not allowed to make their own decisions? I doubt they were forced to convert at gunpoint.
Regardless of whether or not they were okay with it, it's not right to push a belief system on someone who isn't mature enough to grasp everything that comes with it. That goes for both conversions and parents who decide their kid's beliefs straight out of the womb.
Would you say the same thing about colleges pushing liberal political views? If not, then you may be a hypocrite.
Well, I guess there is little difference between young children between 4 and 10 and young adults around of 20 or so years. Clearly both are equally impressionable and cannot decide for themselves.
This has nothing to do with converting, preaching religion to kids is pretty much brainwash. Kids don't understand a lot of things and preaching religion to them should be illegal
Not in this country it isn't. Try saying as much and people will pull the freedom of religion card and possibly harassment of minorities as well. Folk here have a history of getting offended when you try and curtail the stuff they feel should be untouched.

They are priests, not KGB agents.

Kids don't understand a lot of things and preaching religion to them should be illegal
Doing anything with kids is brainwashing them, they instinctively pick up on the behaviour of authority figures and mimic them accordingly (unless they've been abused from a very young age).
Kids need to have some sort of guide in their life, whether it be their parents or what have you. Religion is something I got to choose, and I chose to be a Christian, while by sister and brother went a different way. But we all grew up in a Christian faith and went to Sunday school, etc. Once we got to a certain age, where we were more independent, we were obviously given a choice. Hell, my brother was gay and my parents supported him whole-heartedly. So honestly, until the kid has some sort of guidance on his own, I think they should be given a religion to follow, at least for awhile. Some people have called it brainwashing, but that would be the idea of stopping kids from believing or doing anything even after they have grown and become more knowledged. Remember, religion doesn't have to be a permanent solution, and most of the time it isn't. The only time this kind of teaching is bad is when it is misused and kids are forced to be "Christian" their entire lives (which isn't being a Christian, it's just putting up an image of Christianity for the parents.) TL;DR: Be a good parent with a good understanding of your kids and their wants and desires and you'll have no problem. (also in this case the parent is replaced with the guardian, who is the person running the adoption clinic)
