Yes they're joking.

Actually...
only partly.
I personally think, too, it's getting quite out of hand with all these comic book and franchise films.
Then again I'm really looking forward to the Star Wars movies.
So much Star Wars I want to [sp]GOUGE OUT MY FUCKING EYES![/sp]
The way I see it is, I don't mind the saturation as long as the movies are good.
So far, for me, everything Marvel has done has been good. Some better than others, obviously, but they've all been enjoyable. For Star Wars, I'm weary because I don't want them ruin shit with all these new movies, but again as long as it all turns out to be good I'll have no problem with it. As for DC, I'm not sure. They don't have a great track record so I'm not very hopeful about it, but in any case they're not going to hurt anything but themselves if they make a bunch of movies that turn out to be not that great.
I have a distinct feeling that at some point we'll reach peak superhero and the entire industry will implode after saturating the market.
For some reason, I really don't care if the super hero movies get saturated, bloated, and uninspired. But it really bothers me to think of Star Wars getting to that point.
Doesn't this shit happen with every possible genre of films though? When romcoms were first becoming a thing there was near total market saturation, every single release cycle of films had more romcoms than humanity would like to admit. When found footage "horror" started taking off, that's all we got for a stupid amount of time.
Right now it's just superhero films being the only action film type really out there. Surprising considering the last time superheroes were used it fell to shit almost instantly as 90% of the films were complete trash.
As much as I like the MCU stuff, I'm not afraid to admit most of it is a madlibs template with hero-of-the-week being used as the filling.
It is a weird thought of getting a new Star Wars movie every year; but MORE STAR WARS.
I'm so conflicted.

You want to know how many fucking westerns were made?
Everything has a cycle, the movie industry will move on from superheros eventually.
