MORE SOON - Stuff
literally happened 5/10 minutes ago, everything is fine where I live near the supposed epicentre of the quake, power water etc still working idk if anyone else is here from christchurch but stay safe tonight edit: updated Richter scale of earthquake, was 5.7 but they now believe it/s 5.9. I'll try to do my best to keep updates as things go on but it seems to be fine here.
before someone flips out, 5.7 is hyper common. in fact, there are about 1,000 to 1,500 per year. In any quake prone area's that's like, nothing

My sister in law and her boyfriend live in Christchurch just next to the botanic gardens. They felt it, the biggest they've had in a while. Knocked some things off their desks and junk but nothing was damaged.

My old housemates moved to Australia because of the Christchurch earthquake a couple years back, they just went back for a holiday and landed on the same day of the most recent one. Talk about bad timing.
