I wonder what would happen if someone managed to ring it.
"Hi, thanks for calling. Sorry I can't answer, my phone's in orbit right now. Look up, there he is. Please leave a message after the beep. Perhaps some russian from the ISS will return your call."
How much more expensive would it be to use the web on it from space?
I hope it's an evo 4g.
What's the fucking point..?
Silly, there are no cell phone towers in space! :downs:
inb4: theres an app for that
c'mon everybody! lets waste some rocket fuel and other irreplaceable resources!!!
c'mon everybody! lets waste some rocket fuel and other irreplaceable resources!!!
Understanding how things work in space will pave the way for space civilization. Just give it some time.
What's the fucking point..?

SSTL has earned a worldwide reputation for its small satellites. The company has managed to reduce the cost of its systems by incorporating components that were originally developed for consumer products such as laptops.

What's the fucking point..?
Building specialised control systems for satellites cost a lot of money. Replacing it with a generic piece of hardware running Java reduces costs by 10x or so. Sure, you lose out of radiation shielding and such (so you have to build that into the enclosure), but you still come out ahead.
