DENVER — Video taken by a witness during an arrest shows a Denver police officer punching a suspect in the face six times and then tripping the man’s girlfriend who is seven-and-a-half months pregnant, causing her to land on her belly and face.
The witness who took the video claims an officer then took the tablet he was using to record the arrest, deleted the video file, not realizing it had already been stored on the electronic cloud.
The limited-use video obtained by FOX 31 in Denver shows the suspect’s head bouncing off the pavement from the force of the punches.
While Jones and his partner Christopher Evans were holding and punching Flores, a woman can be heard screaming. A few seconds later, Mayra Lazos-Guerrero, 25, falls hard on her face when Jones sweeps her feet out from under her. Jones said he did it because he thought she was going to kick him. Jones also cited two reasons for why he punched Flores.

Was the baby okay?
and police wonder why communities dont trust them
Absolutely barbaric.
This police officer clearly has problems and shouldn't be allowed to continue working. The punching was totally uncalled for, though I don't think he did anything wrong by tripping that woman. It was very unfortunate but in a situation like that the officer don't have time to check if the person interfering is a pregnant woman or an armed accomplice and he actually stops caring about her after he has tripped her and sees that she isn't a threat.
I hope that man gets his ass fired.
has a police officer accused of brutality ever come forward to make a statement to the media? seems like they never do lol

Most will probably keep their mouth shut, as they are in an ongoing investigation.
I always though that police are another street gang, it's just that they are a legal one.
I know some policemen who are really nice people but there are others who believe that the uniform and being with more of their own group gives them power to do as they please. Typical gang attitude.

Even the punching wasn't uncalled for. This idiot could've easily choked himself to death doing that, forgetting completely whatever he was swallowing for a sec. They were trying to subdue him clearly; one of the cops was even pulling on the sock trying to get it out of the man's mouth.
It's happened before actually. The "expert" they brought in who claimed it was uncalled for is an idiot if he really isn't aware of the Grande Case.
(Long story short: this dude, who was a pornstar, had a bag of pot on him, and tried to swallow it when the cops came for him-- I don't remember why. Anyway, they tried saving him after he'd swallowed it, but he wound up dying because they couldn't get it out. And that was a plastic bag mind you, not a goddamn sock.)

Maybe you are right but that punching just seems so excessive to me. The officer could just have panicked though, I guess no one really knows what was going on in his head at that moment except him. I think he should be assessed either way.

They can plead the 5th also.
and police wonder why communities dont trust them
Communities don't trust the police because the media keeps on putting a heavy accent on how shitty some cops are at doing their jobs.
If there was one article for each cop doing their job and being decent human beings, not only would the newspapers be exclusively filled with them but they'd outnumber the crazy cops by a pretty wide amount.
Basically this is just the media cashing in on Ferguson by scrutinizing any possible occasion of police brutality to make people even more scared than they already are.

Choking to death on a sockful of drugs sounds more excessive to me. Oh well. All that really matters is no one died here I guess.
do other officers in the background don't notice that he's punching his head in? I've seen so many videos where other officers simply don't care that the suspect is being beaten, kicked, whatever the case may be. I've never seen footage of an officer going "Whoa stop right now, your beating his fucking head in." and shoves his friend off or something. It's unbelievable how we're not allowed to stop such abuse, but we can only record because "we're just regular citizens".
just disgusting

you forgot the part that they tried to save him after forcing him against the ground then tazing him while he had the bag in his mouth, then again if only we had audio of the footage. The punching and the tripping of the woman was uncalled for and could have been done in a more proper fashion.
He couldn't have really known that woman was pregnant, but every action performed, specifically the punching is definitely not needed.
As for the tripping, that's kind of a standard way of getting someone non compliant to the ground.
If you're pregnant, and someone of Law Enforcement tells you to lay on the ground, tell them you're pregnant, and can only sit, or something. Like damn.
I can't really sympathise with the woman too much; you don't go right next to a bunch of cops in the middle of trying to arrest someone who is being uncooperative and expect not to be considered a potential threat, especially when you're screaming for them to stop. Not that I necessarily blame her for doing it given what was happening, but never the less it was a stupid action to take, especially being pregnant.
The punching on the other hand seemed quite excessive; I the guy chokes its his own fault for being an idiot, and I don't really see how punching him in the face was going to prevent him from choking anyway.
As long as even 1 corrupt cop is still on the streets, there will be no justice.

In 2013 there was 9xx,000+ members of law enforcement. 6xx,000+ of them sworn. Somehow in that HUGE number, we are not allowed to have a bad apple. No occupation is perfect.
I don't know the context that led to that guy being on the ground. The punching very well could have been justified, I just don't know what factors led to that situation.
As for the pregnant woman, it's her own damn fault. If you are pregnant, it's your responsibility to keep yourself and your baby out of harm's way. Making yourself directly involved in an active scuffle between police and a suspect is a criminal offense. If I were an officer trying to apprehend a suspect and some random person was trying to keep me from doing my job, I'd put their ass on the ground too.
What would have happened if the lady miscarried? Would it still be her fault? Should she be charged with murder then? I find it sickening that people like to always assume it's the victims fault, regardless of evidence. I can understand confusion, with the corruption that has overtaken this country and fear has spread into the hearts of the American people. These are not police officers, they are terrorist. There may be innocent cops out there, but until they start turning tails against the terrorist officers, they are just as bad as the rest of them.
Shouldn't rush cops if you're preggers. Her fault. Punching is probably excessive.

aren't you the guy who said we should have an armed revolution against the us government.

She wouldn't have fallen if she didn't get in the way of the cops. The cops safety is their priority and they don't have time to check if the person pulling at them is pregnant, armed, unarmed, drugged, or anything else. If you get in the way of cops working you will be laid out.

If you're talking about the post in the Michael Brown verdict, I said a peaceful revolution.
and I'm pretty much off the whole armed revolution thing now, music fixes more things than guns.

lmao what you'd let some cop beat the shit out of your parter without saying anything?

Don't be surprised when you get laid out for interfering with police. She endangered her own child. She should've stayed back. What did she honestly think she was going to accomplish?
She should've staid back, yes, but the cop still is a fucking dickhead for tripping her, and needs to be punished. The reason these bastards think they can get away with what they want is because they know they won't be punished, and ignorant (not stupid) people will defend them at all costs.

The cops under no circumstances are going to let themselves be attacked.
