A soldier in a reserve camp is startled when riots break out, and many people start eating and attacking others. Him and his friends break out, find some shelter in a hotel, and attempt to survive. There is a great cast of characters, plenty of deaths, and occasional funny bits. Don't get me wrong, this isn't a comedy. Plenty of swearing occurs as people die, and a lot of bloody details are described. This story is told with only voices, music, and sound effects, and isn't as cheesy as you would think. It's actually pretty neat, and deserves a listen. I was recommended to this by my favorite podcaster, Greg Miller, and he actually stared in the latest episode as "Pete". Here's a couple reviews and blogs about this:
Need to score a zombie fix to hold off the jonesing until Sunday's The Walking Dead premier? Point your modern browser over to the Zombie Podcast and find out what over a million other zombiephiles already know. We're Alive is a radio drama about a zombie outbreak in Los Angeles and the band of survivors that are struggling to stay alive day to day. What's that, you don't know what a radio drama is? According to producer and star Shane Salk it's a "movie that you listen to". The series is divided into 20 minute episodes that become available most Monday mornings (three times a month). We're Alive is into season two right now and every episode is available on their website. A cast of around ten voice actors play the parts of roughly twenty or twenty five unique characters. The production values are very high, especially when it comes to details like gunfire, explosions, and the gutteral moans of the undead. The emphasis is on the characters and the human drama in this broken new landscape of fast, strong zombies. There's already over twelve hours of this radio drama podcast free to download so be warned that it's very easy to play the "just one more episode" game. One last note, as a dedicated LOST fan I pressed Shane about a finale and he swears that the series end game is plotted out and that he knows exactly what the final episode will be, even if won't be soon. I always liked stuff like this. I never got into reading all that much because it just bored me to read and sit, but with podcasts and other things, I can go about my business and still be in the middle of a story. Thanks for posting this!
It sounds good and all but high production value? I heard a mic click in the "sneak peek" and the voice acting sounded tinny and melodramatic at times.

I don't know if its just me or not, but some of the noises sound like they're from Half-Life.
I love We're Alive. I haven't kept up on it because I always forget what's going on but this has inspired me to get caught up on the story.
I'm going to listen through this now.
I love this series as much as you guys, and listened to the entire first season in one weekend or so. After doing that, however, all the episodes feel so far apart... Well I'm glad you are enjoying this as I am! Anyways, what do you guys think about Kalani? I, and many others think he's a huge dick, but some people really like him. Forgot who he is? [sp]He's that airplane pilot that was rescued from the arena[/sp]
Thanks OP, it's great.
The first of "Two Things Apart" link doesn't work (as mp3)
I don't know if its just me or not, but some of the noises sound like they're from Half-Life.
It's probably stock audio that Valve also used coincidentally as well.
Sounds good. I'm on chapter 2 right now, this could make a good book/movie.
This is really immersive in a way, since you imagine shit on your own. I'm sitting with my headset under a fucking blanket listening to this. :v: [editline]5th February 2011[/editline]
The first of "Two Things Apart" link doesn't work (as mp3)
I get this too, I thought it was my internet D:
The first of "Two Things Apart" link doesn't work (as mp3)
If that doesn't work, just use itunes or zune.
