That unmistakable and shockingly brisk chill in the air when you walked out of your residence this morning? Here it is not even mid-September and plunging temperatures in the Chicago area are no doubt bringing back — much too soon — memories of the hideous and unending winter that local residents endured earlier this year, thanks in no small part to the dreaded — yes it has to be referenced here — polar vortex.
Source: http://www.bizjournals.com/chicago/news/2014/09/11/dont-start-googling-polar-vortex-yet-but-chicago.html It's fucking 53 Degrees Fahrenheit outside!
fuck off nature
I promised myself I would wear shorts until October... I had to give in today.
As bad as it was, Chicago literally looked like the set from The Day after Tomorrow, which was kind of cool.
Meanwhile in Florida, we're at 91. Wanna trade?
Meanwhile in Florida, we're at 91. Wanna trade?
I might be moving there in four years. 365 days of cycling, how I wish for it.
I might be moving there in four years. 365 days of cycling, how I wish for it.
dont we are the jersey of the south
Thank god I always forget how shit summer is as a season until it arrives, and by the time it's over I have usually forgotten that winter is shitty too
What?! It's only September!
I think this was more following the thick and heavy stormfront we had. It was like this in the spring too, we'd get some hefty heat, there'd be an ungodly thunderstorm sweeping through, then the temp would drop 20 or so degrees as the cold front that mixed it all up sweeps through in its wake either way it smells like october right now
dont we are the jersey of the south
Well living with my technically senior family means low costs, we'll live in a nice gated condo community in a small greek town, I'll be able to cycle alot, enjoy the warm weather, the majesty of the Gulf, and the adorable gators and crocs. All aside, Chicago is getting expensive for me and my family to live in, so that's the main reason we're moving.
Time to explain what a polar vortex is again before people start denying climate change again. "It's cold today, so much for centuries of peer review and data analysis!"
dont we are the jersey of the south
Isn't that kind of worse in a way? Like New Jersey sucks, but atleast we're the Jersey of the Jersey.

I hope it's not that bad. [editline]11th September 2014[/editline]
Time to explain what a polar vortex is again before people start denying climate change again. "It's cold today, so much for centuries of peer review and data analysis!"
Polar Vortex to me and Chicagoans mean "Misery".
Meanwhile, in tropical southern Illinois, we're at a comfortable 64 degrees and slowly transitioning into fall instead of experiencing a temperature drop steeper than my GPA in high school.
I dunno why anyone would complain about this. I love it. Fall is the best season anyway the fact it may be coming early just makes it better
Meanwhile in California its 95 and we have fuck all for water
Yeah, as far as Polar Vortex goes, I liked this. Got to break out my favorite jacket.
Well shit I liked wearing shorts On the upside I can turn my A/C off and save a bit on my power bill
doesnt matter how many snow days i get this year~ i graduate at the same time regardless of an extended school year
I still say Polar Vortex needs to be a metal band. I hope it doesn't venture as far south as it did last year, but it's looking like it might. It's whatever though, I enjoy the excess snow.
You guys are pussies - someone whom lives in the northwest But seriously, is rising ocean levels to blame for this?
Thats why its fucking cold. Fuck.
You guys are pussies - someone whom lives in the northwest But seriously, is rising ocean levels to blame for this?
nah, just a rogue weather pattern. the actual polar vortex drags north canadian air down to this area though, I remember last winter it was in the negatives here while the west coast was hitting 60+, it was weird
And supposedly we're supposed to get a winter like this again next year too.
Yeah, as far as Polar Vortex goes, I liked this. Got to break out my favorite jacket.
Same here, but I didn't like feeling Ill for most of it and doing nothing cept going out and shoveling snow and breaking up ice.
I'll admit, I'm not going to be a fan of walking around to classes in it.
oh fuck me i was hoping it was just 50 because of a fluke we had an extra week of winter break because of this shit last year
You guys are pussies - someone whom lives in the northwest But seriously, is rising ocean levels to blame for this?
The circumpolar vortex is around all the time, but it's supposed to stay above the north pole as its name suggests. It's a big spinning ring of cold arctic air being "held" in place by the Jet Stream. When the Jet Stream weakens, the circumpolar vortex will droop down and cause a rush of cold air to ruin peoples days. So the jet stream is slacking off. There's probably a reason but pointing fingers without evidence is dangerous, so I'll leave it at that.
Polar Vortex would be an awesome rock band name.
