Wtf this isn't an animated rap video. Interest lost.
Took him long enough
not to sound rude though, i heard his reasoning in one of the game grumps videos about why he shouldnt give release dates out for his videos but still.

wasnt that a link to the past him and jon were playing
this is more of a rant than a critique

yeah wow this video was disappointing, it's not nearly as good as the other sequelitis videos
his main arguments seem to be "i don't care" and "nobody likes waiting" throughout most of the video, it just feels like he's desperately trying to justify his grudge towards the game and it just makes it very hard to take him seriously
i really hope jontron also finishes his zelda video
I really hate when people say the original Zelda didn't hand you instructions and that made it good. Just because you don't read the goddamn manual that comes with the game doesn't mean the instructions are not there.
Then again, Arin never reads any instructions to begin with :v:
IT HAPPENIIIIIIIIIING
thank god finally, it's a great episode, too.
oh christ the smugness in his potshots. he's the last motherfucker that needs to talk to me about consistent quality.
I like how how he praises the old Zelda games for their open endless while completely writing off Zelda 2.
Which best shows that off in the old ones.
It seems really petty to spend almost the entirety of a 30 minute video complaining about how the game in question is centered around the story it's trying to tell so he can't get everywhere he wants to go instantaneously. It's like complaining about a turkey sandwich taking longer to make because you add more than just the turkey. Like yeah an open ended approach all throughout is fine for a lot of games, but in an adventure game I'd say the struggles you go through to get to the places you want to go and get the equipment you want to have is way more important than just being able to go where you want right away.
This feels like less of a critique and more of an impatient guy who barely seems to actually enjoy video games not wanting to wait to get to the meat of the experience. But when a game's based around a story it has every right to take its time and tell it, it doesn't have to cater to your every impatient little whim. If you can't enjoy the story for what it is and where it takes you that sounds like a problem with the person playing it, not the game itself.

I tried the original Zelda without any prior expectations or nostalgia and I genuinely hated it. I had no idea what to do or where to go. It's a very inaccessible game compared to any of the others in the series.
I kinda see his point, I've never been a fan of games that have to make the game stop to tell you a story - I feel as though the storytelling should be integrated into gameplay somehow
Half way through i was kinda getting bored with the ranting. Basically what he really said was that he wants OoT without cutscenes, chests open instantly, things should not randomly hit you because thats bad game design and so on.
It was good ye but clearly the previous ones were better.
I wonder if he played La Mulana. It's pretty much everything he wants in a Zelda game (well, except that it's a sidescroller).
What he kinda forgets is that it was one of the very first games that had to deal with the 3D world exploration.

The Mega Man one was a lot of the same shit except he complained about modern games in general rather than one specific game.
The Castlevania episodes were the only good ones IMO.
finally watched this
never liked ocarina that much but i loved LTTP and link between worlds
i guess this is why. the sense of actual adventure.
wasnt that a link to the past him and jon were playing
yea it was i think
i dont know the exact vid in the series though

I guess the 'jokes' on the Megaman episodes were pulled off beter. Dunno what else it is then but this video just kinda felt more off then the others.

Arin Hanson is a condescending douchebag who's persuaded a game is only good if it doesn't teach you anything about how it plays and you only learn through glorified trial and error. He's been known to spit all over games with tutorials and text messages telling you what to do because they're an "insult to his intelligence", even though he proved many times he has no fucking clue how to actually learn the ins and outs of a game when it's not handfeeding him all the information.
Long story short, Arin's opinions on games can always be disregarded on the grounds that he's a fucking idiot.
Sure he had good points here and there but the whole video is summed with "I'm incredibly impatient", "I don't care about new and different things", "how dare games have plots in them" and "I hate Skyward Sword don't forget that".
By far my least favorite Sequelitis.
wow you can really tell some of this was written during jon era grumps

The Zelda series sure has an interesting story that needs a long time to be told. "You're special so go save the world and stuff."
Ocarina pads its game length with "story" by wasting your time with things like the Gorons, Zoras, or trudging across Hyrule Field again. He's not upset that the story is being told, but that the game isn't letting him figure out what to do.
Old school Zelda lets you do the gameplay actions you want to while exploring the world and finding your way. In newer Zeldas you do random shit to earn the privilege of actually playing the game.
But then again, the only Zelda game I like is Minish Cap, so who cares what I have to say.
This isn't a very good sequel to his Sequelitis videos. Someone should do a Sequelitis Sequelitis.
I knew this was going to be more a rant than a critique. Arin has always hated on OoT.
While I partly agree with the target system, OoT is the first game to ever have a system like it. I feel it's unfair to compare something that's new and unpolished with a system that has been developed for years. In WW they improved alot on the combat, it's faster and less clunky. And the way you can use your items against enemies are done so much better.
And all this talking about cutscenes in Oot made me wonder why he didn't show the King Zora scene.

He'd probably get lost in the first 5 minutes and then complain about it being unintuitive
I know because I did too, minus the complaining part
