As a summer project my dad, brother and I are going to be working on a 1979 Taylor Jet Boat. We picked it up for $3000 and it's in great shape, just needs some work. The engine is fine, but we're going to change some things on it to fit our taste. Wiring needs to be completely redone, so we're planning that. Everything else is basically fine. Here's some information on it: -455 Oldsmobile engine -Dual quad Holley carburetor -Berkely jet pump -Bassett racing headers -A little over 500 horsepower(Not too sure on this, though research on the engine has proved it's kicking out a lot) Pictures are taken with an iPhone. Here are some shots from the day we towed it home. Turns out it has a nice tandem axle trailer, just needs one new tire. So we started that. [t]http://i.imgur.com/dXt8c.jpg[/t] Turns out the drain holes in the stringers were plugged and the wood rotted, so now we have to completely redo the stringers. That'll be a later project when we're not too busy. For support we decided to make ribs, or basically supports for the side. [t]http://i.imgur.com/3mbSx.jpg[/t] They will be fiberglassed in and hidden with side panels. We've been busy so little progress has been made. Basically all we've done was remove the gas tank that was put in as it wasn't made for this boat. The tank was a single 12 gallon tank that was put in the front of the boat. Not only that, it was the only thing holding the front of the boat up as the bulkhead was removed. So we have to make a new bulkhead and order saddle tanks(The ones we want will cost around $800, turning out to be an expensive project). Since we now have time on our hands we decided to pull the engine and jet drive and get ready to remove the rotted stringers and install new ones. The passenger side's stringer was only rotted in the middle but we decided to just remove it all. [t]http://i.imgur.com/cQMLa.jpg[/t]
