Queensland Health announced it would offer $20 Telstra credit vouchers to people in Mount Isa who undergo a free, confidential screening for the disease before June 1. Participants will also be put into a draw to win a mobile phone. Chief health officer Jeannette Young said syphilis was a serious and potentially fatal illness. "Syphilis is spread through unsafe sex. Pregnant mothers can also pass the disease onto their babies either in the womb or during delivery," Dr Young said. "There's absolutely no shame in getting treatment if you suspect you have an STI (sexually transmitted illness) like syphilis. "It's easily treated and free of charge." [/quote]
Free $20 credit, I'd go.
This is great, maybe not that they have to offer prizes to get checked out but at least it will get people to go.
Oh my god, 9 fold?
I'm off to Queensland for a checkup! :v:
Syphilis? Bah, what do these secular doctors know? Abstinence only works best. In other cases, just stick 2 leeches into your codpiece and you'll be beating your manservant in no time!

Telstra credit? Fuck, I'm with Optus. Guess I'll pass.
While I agree with the decision doesn't this leave open the possibility that virgins get checked for the 20$? Those cases would be a complete waste of time and money.
