Bernie Sanders Campaign Announces 1 Million Individual Campaign Contributions
On Wednesday morning, the Sanders Campaign declared 1 million individual online contributions within 12 hours of their financial deadline. This is something both the official campaign and supporters should be proud of. It is an unprecedented accomplishment for Sanders and his hardcore base of progressive supporters. No campaign has reached this level of individual contributions this early in a campaign. In the last week, the average campaign donation was $24.86.
Does Sanders have a legitimate chance to win by now? I'm sorry if it's a stupid question, but I'm not at all updated on the american political front

Trailing Hilary by a couple percentage points without piles of corporate money.
Note: The Republicans have Trump and Hilarys Email scandal is about to kill her.

These things are very hard to predict but it's almost certainly going to be Hillary Clinton, Bernie Sanders, or Trump.

I would be surprised if it actually did.
Isn't the electoral college a useful rigging tool? The Military Industrial Complex is not gonna let Bernie in.
I really hope he wins though.

When was the last time the electoral college voted against the voters they represented?

Once the democratic primaries start picking up steam I can definitely see him gaining more support since he'll be thrusted into public view more often.

IIRC Members of the college are pretty much bound by law to vote for those they are pledged to represent.
So if your state votes republican, then the college member must vote republican or else face consequences.
Sanders is like the Ron Paul of this election. People will point out every instance in which he's remotely close to winning a state, but even one or two states won't push him the win.

Why the hell would the GOP ever pick Trump?
The Republicans have this election in the bag-- nobody wants to vote for Clinton due to her history, and not many people are interested in electing a socialist. (certainly not as many as Facepunch and Reddit tends to believe)
It's likely going to be one of the candidates from Florida-- either Rubio or Bush. Bush is unpopular due to him sharing the last name with previous presidents, so I'm betting it'll be Rubio. He'll win the minority vote due to him being Cuban/Hispanic, and will likely win the Florida vote due to him being from there. The combination of the two gives him fairly good odds, given that he plays his cards right.
I mean, I get it if you'd want to say that Clinton might make it to the general election, but I don't understand why you think Trump would ever make it past the primaries. He's a nutcase, and even a majority of his own party believes that.

Absolutely wrong. This is state law in a few states, but is nowhere near national law.
However, electoral college representatives that vote against those they're representing are pretty much dooming their political career-- hence why it doesn't happen often.

eh
good enough for me
people have been making "dewey defeats truman" proclamations about trump since the day he announced he was running, it's starting to get boring tbh
he has never once(?) dipped below most favored candidate in polls, ¡jeb! and rubio are hanging about in 3rd, 4th, and even 5th places sometimes. when a nullity like carson is beating you, it's time to re-examine your strategy.
as for the first question: why would the GOP pick trump? why indeed? but then, it isn't the GOP who picks trump, it's republican voters, and lots republican voters hate the GOP establishment with a passion.
"the GOP hates him" is a feature, not a bug

as for sanders, he's got zero presence. oozes weakness. let the BLM people walk all over him. not the person you want running a nuclear superpower ...
Comeon man, tinfoil hats off
The electoral college is pretty stupid though. They could easily abstain or not vote for Bernie as promised.

Sanders is probably one of the most aggressive people in Congress. He doesn't ooze weakness. Giving the podium to the BLM protestors is the smartest thing he did at that rally, it showed civil rights activists that he's willing to talk and allow them into his campaign, scored some nice endorsements. Cornell West for example.

Yes because one time he let someone inturupt him, he's completely spineless and should therefore not be qualified for president. Yet trump actively campaigns against the laws of physics and he's somehow more capable at being president because he's louder?

1 electoral vote never mattered anyways, there are rules on if the vote ever got that close, remember you aren't voting for the entire state
So thats over 24 million. Nice
For comparison, Clinton's latest filing was $47 million and that was three months ago

Trump is falling btw

who have the votes gone to? it's hard to see all the overlapping ones
also might be too early to say falling. i mean, holy shit look at the variance in the poll numbers for that spike. could be regression to the mean
also: wtf is even the point of running if you can't even get 1% of the vote..

Thank God holy shit
Can someone please help a foreigner out and detail Bernie Sanders' opinion on foreign policy? I recall looking up his stance on some of today's thorny foreign policy issues, but other than "Putin is a bad man" and "we should get out of the Middle East", I couldn't find anything.
What's his take on how America should act on the world stage? What are the odds of him turning out to be an isolationist?

The odds of him turning isolationist are 100%
Military wise and economic wise
"Free trade acts? Fuck off m8
Foreign bases and intervention? Fuck off m8
Outsourcing jobs? Fuck off m8"

It's still pretty early to know anything for sure.
In terms of endorsements, Hillary is the democratic favorite, and Bush is the republican favorite.
