Together Fox and Time Warner would own a huge range of assets including CNN, Fox News, HBO and movie studios 20th Century Fox and Warner Bros. Time Warner rejected the $85-a-share cash and stock offer, a 25% premium on the company’s share price, according to a source familiar with the negotiations. Murdoch is likely to consider a renewed bid, the New York Times reported. The octogenerian has long been keen to secure a final mega-merger before handing the reins of his media empire to the next generation of the Murdoch family. The bid, which would create a combined company with total revenues of $65bn, could prompt a new spate of media consolidation.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-28327604
US media giant Time Warner has rejected an initial takeover approach from rival 21st Century Fox estimated at $80bn (£46.6bn). The takeover approach by the Rupert Murdoch owned company was made last month, it was revealed. Twenty-first Century Fox confirmed in a statement on Wednesday that its offer for Time Warner had been rejected. It added it was not currently in talks with Time Warner about pursuing the deal further.
Murdoch's a twat, I don't think this is a good idea. Time Warner Cable is shite enough already, having it owned by Fox could probably make it even more shite.
If I have a favourite Hollywood studio I guess it's Warner Bros, a lot of my favourite films are from them
Great, the entertainment industry is already nearly an oligopoly and making it become a monopoly slowly would only make it worse
Wouldn't that start a chain reaction towards an antitrust lawsuit ?
Murdoch's a twat, I don't think this is a good idea. Fox is trying to buy the one that does Cartoon network.
A corporation who through BSkyB has tried to strangle and monopolise the TV landscape over here in the UK over course of the last few decades doesn't get my vote to make them even more powerful.
Wouldn't that start a chain reaction towards an antitrust lawsuit?
Wait, is that a thing people can do to prevent monopolies and stagnation? If so, that is amazing.

Foxtel is Australia's BskyB and has literally became the only subscription tv service in Australia, there's others but you can't compare it Foxtel. Here's hoping Time Warner rejects this again, I would not like to see Cartoon Network or CNN fall under Murdoch's hands. I mean CNN is shite but not as shite as Fox News
fuck fox
''squeakquel'' that shit's unacceptable
The two largest media companies don't need to merge, thankyou.

Does anyone know when the Comcast deal was planned? I totally forgot about it :|
Wait, is that a thing people can do to prevent monopolies and stagnation? If so, that is amazing.
Well, technically yes, but in practice? Fuck no, it hardly ever happens. The big companies have so many people in their pockets that the bell anti-trust is really going to be the last one I fear.
Time Warner Cable hasn't been a part of Time Warner proper for years now. Would Cartoon Network lose all rights to all the Time Warner cartoons if this happened?
Does anyone know when the Comcast deal was planned? I totally forgot about it :|
I think it's still in talks. I do know that apparently you can log into public xfinity spots with your Time Warner Cable login info though.
Holy fuck, cant believe the cartoon part of it is worth that much. Would Cartoon Network lose all rights to all the Time Warner cartoons if this happened?
No, Cartoon Network is done and owned by Time Warner Media, if Fox bought them they'd own everything that Time Warner owns.
Does this mean Fox, who does X-Men and Fantastic Four, would have control of the DC movie properties? ... holy shit that would be bizarre.
Does this mean we're gonna get Fox and Friends for kids?
Does this mean Fox, who does X-Men and Fantastic Four, would have control of the DC movie properties? ... holy shit that would be bizarre.
Yes. It also means AvP2 would be able to show up on Steam since one company owned both the source code and the characters.
This is the evilest thing I can imagine
This scares me because Time Warner owns DC Comics. The uncertainty fills me with dread. Heck, I'd rather have even Disney own DC which would be weird as fuck since they own Marvel. But as evil as Disney is, I'd trust them with it.
