Yep this is pretty much working in retail in a nutshell, difference is we had a manager who didn't do anything and we actually followed policy, if it wasn't broken and they didn't have the box or proof of purchase, politely told them to essentially go fuck themselves.
Had one twat try to return a TV that very clearly wasn't bought from the place because we never stocked that model, demanded to see the manager so just walked into the back office, manager told me to fuck off so in turn said to the guy couldn't do it.
Also heard stories from other people where when they ask for the manager they just go into the back room and make a coffee or something then come back because they already know what the manager is going to say. v:v:v
