I'll start from the beginning...
As the christmas holidays came up for me, I decided I should get a job somewhere to get some cash in my hand to spend around the place for the holidays.
I applied at a butcher, the boss of the place was an old guy, I know he's seriously rich and I hoped to get somewhat $10/hour.
First day there, i worked 10 hours, my living hell, at the end of the day, he paid me $75 and claimed it was $8/hour
The next day I worked there for 3 hours, and had to go somewhere to meet some friends...
I didn't turn up for a few days, as if i'd go out of my way to work somewhere I find horrible.
Out of my will, I turned up another day thinking "it's not that bad", and ended up making an excuse for leaving after 2 hours of work, he paid me for that work ($16), and when i asked for the money for the 3 hours on the other day, he said "I'll pay you next week". Well shit, I'll come up later and get it then.
2 weeks later (today), I went there with the sole aim of getting my $24 i rightfully own, yea sure, it isn't much, but it's the principle behind it, and the fact that the Steam sale is on, I'd actually love it into my bank account.
I arrived there and he told me how I can't just do that at a job and that I have "fucked them around" about his workers training me, I demanded the money and kept on hassling, telling him that I rightfully own the money. He eventually went to the loading dock to do something, and I kept following him asking for my money, then he threatened to "drop me on my ass". His workers held him back and I left.
Any ideas on what I can do to get my money? This guy is a stingy asshole and I rightfully own that money.
tldr: I worked at a place, guy won't pay me for a shift and threatened to hit me.
Police. Simple as that. They'll know better than most Facepunchers about your local law.
Firemen.
SWAT team
Ambulance.

Firerain.
If you didn't sign any contract or if you don't have any solid, valid legal proof, then I'm afraid you can't do much.
Electrician!
Serious: You should talk to the authorities about this. He can't just not pay you like that AND threaten to hurt you.
Just call the po-lice.
If you didn't sign any contract or if you don't have any solid, valid legal proof, then I'm afraid you can't do much.
And this
But what about witnesses? Someone wrote down the 3 hours I worked before I left, so would that be considered proof of work?

I'd tell them about that, if I were you.

if he's in the us, and it's a legal company, and he was hired to do work and was paid multiple times he can sue the company.
not sure for what clause or whatever but it's mistreatment, since he's not hiring someone and paying him less for others work.
You don't deserve that $24

He was getting paid under the table. Unless your work pays you with checks that have your social security number on them, you officially did not work for them.

Care to explain why?
and I'm in Australia by the way

1. You're a bad employee
2. You got trained, but just stopped coming into work without quitting, something which fucks over the boss, who works much harder than you to run his business
3. You got paid under the table
4. It's twenty-four dollars and you are considering legal action.
twenty four dollars.

I worked pretty well there, I put my best in for my hours and did what I was told.
I do admit though, I did fuck him around, but it's no excuse to take away my pay.
and $24 is a bit for someone who doesn't get any money... and the principle behind it
Give him a blowjob, you'll get your money.

Yes, you fucked him around, your fault.
I worked pretty well there,
I'd have fired your ass on the spot
I worked pretty well there
You didn't go to work for a few days without even letting him know....
I'd have fired your ass on the spot
When I was working, I put quite a lot of effort in.
Doesn't matter if you would have fired me, I still worked there those hours and I still own the money.
Op is a slacker.
what the fuck, you didn't show up when you were supposed to and you still went back to claim that?
cheeky fucker, i'd have knocked you out too.
The police said that they can't deal with civil matters, only criminal.
If I did feel threatened enough, I could go to court and get an AVO against him, but that would take a lot of money and effort.

Dependable employees are better than 'A-for-effort' employees. Maybe if you had come straight with him and told him that the line of work wasn't for you, and at least stuck it out for a few days in a row, he would've been more understanding. As it is, you
A. got trained
B. Worked a grand total of 15 hours
C. Abandoned your post
D. Came back and harassed the boss over pocket change
This is a man who took the risk of getting a loan and starting a business. He worked - hard - for years (presumably,) slowly building his business, sticking it out through the good times and the bad times. Then some kid comes along, screws him over, and gets mad about $24. Now he's considering legal action on the internet and he's called the police.
What the fuck is wrong with you?
what the fuck, you didn't show up when you were supposed to and you still went back to claim that?

thanks, he didn't tell me when I was supposed to turn up, I told him to give me a call if they wanted me in.

jesus christ. forget this ever happened. this is not how jobs work, you don't just go in when you feel like it, or leave early to meet friends.
OP is lucky he didn't get his clock cleaned.
You deserved it too. Fucking playing hooky and threatening legal action.

I agree, but he shouldn't threaten you.
