• Is today's music inferioror to that of past generations?

I can hardly stand todays music. With all the nobody bands who try to play well only to end up sounding like every other Alternate-Indie Rock band, I have to keep asking myself why people actually support this garbage. The Beatles are my favorite band, and naturally their music is nothing like the stuff we see now, but it doesn't take a classic-rock snob to know that there is roughly about 10% of good music coming out of the "cultural cameltoe" I call the 21st century. What are your thoughts?
Yes it is very inferior.
I think today's music is okay.
Well if you do look around you can find plenty of good bands ignoring all of the commercialized crap that passes for music these days. But remember there were commercialized crap back then too (The Monkees for example).
Search harder.
Yes. Plus the arise of 80's revival bullshit is making it worse.
9/10 of it is.
All music today sucks. Especially Lady Gaga and Owl City. 80's supremacy FTW!
Pop and country suck, so yes.
The metal scene is doing pretty good. Whilst the fact there's a lot more bands that play metal out there today means there's a lot more shit bands, it also means there's a lot more good bands. As to whether its inferior or not, well, that's all a matter of opinion. Personally, I prefer modern metal better than 80s metal, and not only because production methods have been improved since then. It's all a matter of opinion and where you look, I suppose.
I prefer modern metal better than 80s metal,
what
All of you people making threads like these need to find music you like instead of listening to what others/the radio play. There's a ton of good modern music out there however you are being stubborn asses and staying in the past.
what
Sorry. I just don't much care for 70s or 80s metal. Iron Maiden? Not a fan. Judas Priest? Nothing to really talk about. Death? Ehh, they're cool. Athiest? They're okay. Cynic? Can't say its anything outstandingly spectacular outside of a technical/progressive field. Scar Symmetry? Yes please! Insomnium? Hell yeah! Disarmonia Mundi?
People who say "all of today's music sucks" are too lazy to go look for the good stuff that's still there.
Today's Top 40 radio station content sucks ass. That said, there's a LOT of music out there, more than at any point in our history, and good stuff can be found.
Iron Maiden? Not a fan. Judas Priest? Nothing to really talk about.
LALALAL I DONT HEAR YOu
They had crappy music in the 60's too I'm sure.
The musics just as good as the 80's. It's just there's more bands, so more shit bands than the 80's.
The reason you don't hear about shitty music from the 60's is because it was shitty and is now gone. Stop being lazy and living in the past.
Yes it is very inferior.
That's a stupid thing to say, only the mainstream music is shit personally, I've discovered bands like Opeth and I think they're greater than anything I've ever heard, more so that other generations of music which I've listened to in the past. I'd have to say I wasn't a huge fan of "the big four" either. Maybe Metallica, but I wouldn't place them in my top ten bands. I like them, but I wouldn't own more than 2 of their albums
You only hear of the good bands from the past, but you know of the present shitty bands. Modern music is not inferior just we know too much about it.
Todays music was saved by Tool, Neophyte, Showtek, Eminem, Slipknot, Dope, Rammstein and many other.

There's a fuckton of good music today. You just have to look somewhere other than your dad's CD collection and the radio to find it. Try Porcupine Tree, for a start. They're perfect for kids who are stuck in the past. Very Pink Floyd, I find

Kids in general, or CR obsessees? Time Flies sounds so much like Dogs, that'll at least catch their attention for a bit.
Well there was shit music in every generation, problem is that most of the shit music is becoming popular.
Your grammar sure is 'inferioror'.
it all depends on the ear of the beholder
