Motion controllers seem like a bit of a fad to me.
The maps will be ported from the exclusive version to the regular version in under a week I bet.

Yeah but there is that portal moving thing and the box resizer which wont be able to port.
Yeah but there is that portal moving thing and the box resizer which wont be able to port.
I'm assuming that the code will already be in everybody's version of the game. Probably just a few console commands away.
The device should, it seems, be released around April, the same time as Portal 2, for less than $100. I’ve posted a shakycam demo of Portal 2 being played with the device below..
Sounds like a deal.
That does actually look REALLY accurate. Like a wii but with good games.
Holy crap, proper resizing in Source? This better get used in GMod!
this is quite nice but im still annoyed at the fact that valve still use the shitty glass breaking from like 5 years ago.
The guys at Razer make some good stuff, but meh, I don't know about this.
Lame move on valve's part to make specific maps for these controllers with the excuse that you can't do the maps with a mouse and keyboard because the controls would only work well with these controllers :downs:

That's pretty neat, I wonder how much it's going to be.
I know motion controls are generally seen as a gimmick, but I've actually really always wanted to play Portal with motion controls. It just seems like the absolute perfect first-person game to do it with. If this really does come out to under $100, then it'll be a steal and I plan on getting it. This also makes me wonder if the PS3 version of Portal 2 will end up supporting PlayStation Move. If they also manage to do that PS3-to-PC Steam-based multiplayer that they said they wanted to do, then the PS3 version is going to be a great version (feature-wise...we still have to see how it performs).
valve made exclusive maps for the 360 on the original portal, not such a big deal.
Those were ported over from a fan-made mod, though, so nobody on the PC side was ever missing anything with that.
damn,fail post,don't mind it.
It looks amazingly accurate, but honestly as Yahtzee said on Zero Punctuation, i want to play games slouched in my chair with a bag of Maltesers and the controller, i want to relax, not move my whole arm. The only advantage these things have over a mouse is the leftm right translation and z space, which Garry fixed in GMOD by using one button on the keyboard.

I'm hoping there'll be more to it that we just haven't seen yet, though. The only demo I've seen of it keeps using that same exact stretch of map. Who knows what we'll end up able to do with it in the main game campaign.
Looks cool. I've always wanted something like a nunchuk for my left hand, only, for analog movement. I think it would be awesome to have a left stick for movement and a mouse for aiming, personally.
Hey guys. GMod on that.
valve made exclusive maps for the 360 on the original portal, not such a big deal.
I thought eidos ported the orange box to the 360? And those maps weren't created by valve either.
I might get it. Depending if its actually good and not some shit like the Wii controllers were.
~£64 for that? For Razer, that's a pretty good deal. [editline]9th January 2011[/editline] And it'll be easy to make it work with mice, just make a bind that allows you to scale objects and you're done.

Ok this actually looks like it might be precise enough to compete mouse in FPS controlling. Also, this would be great for GMod.
this is quite nice but im still annoyed at the fact that valve still use the shitty glass breaking from like 5 years ago.
Other videos show a new type of glass. Look up portal 2 videos on youtube and you'll see it.
Wait, resizing and all that stuff will be this controller only? That's what I call BS.
Hmm.. does this work for games like Call of Duty etc?
