Why does the game look so laggy?
The original iPad is from 2010, and the application might not be that well-coded.
This game looks boring
This game looks boring
It's a pretty good time waster, honestly.
Didn't a facepuncher make this?
This game looks boring
It definitely is in comparison to the game it rips off, Threes.
Didn't a facepuncher make this?
Nah, they made their own version though.
You can play it online here

threes is so much better seriously
it finally came on android too
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=vo.threes.exclaim
i am awaiting their other game they made which is like a tetris/bookworm hybrid
It definitely is in comparison to the game it rips off, Threes.
I startedplaying that finally on my phone, it's significantly better than the 2048 rip off.
B-b-but nerds LOVE video games. Bazinga anyone?
my math teacher asked why you couldnt combine the 2 and the 8 because that would make the game so much easier multiplying like that
I downloaded Threes a month or so ago and I don't think there's been a day that's passed where I haven't played at least a handful of games. When it's slow at work, when I'm sitting at a long red light or waiting on a loading screen in a different game, I'll just pull out my phone and start swiping away.
That being said, my biggest pet peeve is when someone dismisses something right out without giving it a fair chance, or attempting to understand why people enjoy it. Sure you may be a professor of chemistry at a high level university and this is just some little phone game, but saying "It's a boring waste of time" after about a minute and a half makes you seem like kind of a prick, bruh
Didn't one of us make this?
What's the big difference between Threes and 2048?
What's the big difference between Threes and 2048?
Threes uses powers of three, 2048 uses powers of two.
You can play it online here
oh wow this is fun
What's the big difference between Threes and 2048?
Swiping moves all the tiles to the other side of the board in 2048, in Threes it only moves them one space over in the direction you swiped.
There are 1 and 2 tiles that you have to initially combine to create a 3 tile, from there every combination goes up in multiples of three.
The game has a set pattern to its tile spawn (i.e. 1 tile, 1 tile, 2 tile, 3 tile, + tile[any number larger than 3, I'm not sure how the game determines how large the number is], this pattern isn't constant) and the tiles come in from the direction swiped, rather than random like in 2048.
got to 1024 in my first time ever playing it
first guy who made it as an app was a friend of Day[9]
forgot his name. Its his current roommate
The interviewers voice. Why so high pitched?
The interviewers voice. Why so high pitched?
Because that's how his voice is?

mmm, our own saming made 2048, a clone of a mobile game called 1024, which was a clone of Threes
a lot of guys in the webdev WAYWO thread found it addictive, and TerabyteS (gabriele cirulli) made his own clone (with permission) of saming's with animations etc, which is what exploded
looks like they're playing one of the '2048 app' clones here
I beat this the other day and I haven't touched it since... I played it too much trying to beat it honestly.
Once you get the hang of it getting to 2048 is pretty easy. What's tricky is the much higher numbers.
2048 is just a shit copy of Threes.
I'd just like to say:
Well done TerabyteS_ and saming.
Didn't a facepuncher make this?
yes, TerabyteS_

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2048_(video_game)
his irl name is Gabriele Cirulli
I was hoping one of the professors would be an electronic engineer or computer scientist, I've seen a few people online developing algorithms to solve it.
