The Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) ranked Singapore as number one out of 82 countries for its "efficient [and] open economy". The tiny Asian island nation has been at the top of the rankings for seven consecutive years. Other countries ranked in the top five included Switzerland, Australia, Hong Kong and Sweden respectively. The rankings were based on the attractiveness of a country's business environment by looking criteria such as political climate, openness to foreign investment, taxes, the labour market and infrastructure. Last month, Singapore also topped the World Bank's ease of doing business report, which looked at 189 countries.
http://www.bbc.com/news/business-30123422
Dubai is the best city in the world for expatriates and professionals to live and work in, beating New York, London and other most prominent cities, according to a new research. A survey released on Wednesday by the Alumni Association of graduate business school Insead, which polled nearly 1,000 respondents, has ranked Dubai as the most attractive place to live in in terms of professional and private life. Insead has campuses in France, Singapore and Abu Dhabi. The survey asked respondents of 35 different nationalities to rate 15 key cities in the world in terms of economic dynamism (quality of labour, access to funding); quality of life (sports and cultural facilities, air quality); cost of living (real estate, dining, entertainment) and overall attractiveness (young talent, access to technology). Dubai emerged as the overall winner and ranked first in economic dynamism, third in overall attractiveness and fourth in terms of quality of life and cost of living. Amsterdam came second, followed by Toronto, Singapore, Madrid, Hong Kong and New York. Tokyo occupied the 8th spot, while Shanghai and London came in the 9th and 10th place, respectively.
http://gulfnews.com/news/gulf/uae/employment/dubai-voted-world-s-top-city-to-live-and-work-1.1414938 This country has a hardon for trying to be number 1 constantly.
Yeah, Dubai is great if you're not one of the slaves building the city.
Amsterdam? is this a parody article or somethin fuckin lmao
Dubai voted world's top city to live and work
If you're rich, sure. But tell that to the thousands of migrant workers however who have had their passports seized and are forced into what is practically slavery.
I wonder why Finland is so high in the list, its horrible paper war here to start a company and it doesn't even end there. Not to mention you have to pay your employees well because of the prices on everything here and taxes.
Dubai is great until you lose your job. We learnt that the hard way.
Amsterdam? is this a parody article or somethin fuckin lmao
This article is already a parody because it has New York in it.
Dubai is only great if you have money/you're a male
Even if you're wealthy you can be fucked there. I've seen a documentary about a French football player who was stuck in Dubai because of shady regulations.
Even if you're wealthy you can be fucked there. I've seen a documentary about a French football player who was stuck in Dubai because of shady regulations.
note to self don't go to Dubai or at least be very careful if do so.
Finland is a terrible country to start a business in because of the intense bureaucracy, taxes, and maniacal regulations.
whenever finland gets even the slightest praise in the news, every finn sets out to prove that everything is actually shit and finland sucks. edit: it's because were fucking retarded.
I think the foreign workers in Dubai who get their passports stolen and are forced into slave labor might have something to say about that...
I'm sure dubi is the best city to live in* *if you have more money than you could ever possibly spend On a side note anywhere is an amazing place to live in if you have cash to not live like the people who scrape by or can't even do that
