FLORIDA: Anti-Gay Group Launches MTV Boycott Over Transgender Character
73 replies, posted
The Florida Family Association has launched an advertiser boycott against MTV because the network's Degrassi series positively portrays a young transgender man. Degrassi airs on MTV's Teen Nick channel. FFA chairman David Caton writes in a letter to the show's advertisers:
It is very concerning that your company would knowingly advertise during a television show that condones and promotes transgender lifestyles to an audience that is almost exclusively watched by young teens and children. You would think by the number of episodes that MTV devotes to including the relationship between a female to male transgender high school student and a bi-sexual lesbian student that such relationships are a common occurrence in America’s high schools. The odds of this bizarre relationship occurring in high schools are extremely rare. Yet, MTV feeds this salacious and irresponsible propaganda to an audience made up of almost exclusively young teens and children as if it were common place. MTV airs a free promo for PFLAG on DeGrassi which directs kids to an organization that will encourage our youth to embrace a different sexual identity that may stay with them for life. Will your company continue to advertise on this irresponsible show?
RELATED: World Net Daily publicized the boycott today in a lengthy article that repeats Peter LaBarbera's unfounded charges about GLSEN's Facebook page.

Couldn't quite seem to escape myself
Far enough, far enough, far from Florida
and a bi-sexual lesbian student
They were so angry they didn't even proofread it first.
Has the anti-intellectual element in the USA always been as powerful as it is in the 21st century?

apparently gays aren't enough, now the liberal media is pushing trisexuals on our kids
It's just that people were smarter in Ye Olde Days
[editline]AUTOMERGE[/editline]
MY AUTOMERGE
Again, the anti gay shit happens in the South.

I still don't understand what omnisexual means, really. It just seems like a really pretentious form of bisexuality. I'm probably extremely wrong, though. Could anybody explain it to me?

My first thought is basically 'i'll fuck anything with a pulse'.
no, you can fill any role every gender or sexual orientation has
instead of just being gay, you could be a gay woman. it's like a tranny bisexual person who wants to be both a man and woman.
that's a really really shitty definition though, like, don't quote me for the life of you. look it up on wiki
"Person attracted to all sexes and to all forms of sexuality"
but it clearly said in the wiki page you can roleplay a different gender too.
pretty sure i'm at least somewhat pansexual

Well, that's a bit of a disappointment.
they want to get in bed with homosexuals to make sure they don't fuck eachother in the ass .
Not really, I'm being unreasonable. They're really right though, tolerance is not a christian and probably not a family value either, right?
uhhh, tolerance isn't a family value?
if it wasn't all the angry irish people would go extinct cause they'd whip their babies into retardation for crying
MTV should be boycotted just because it airs shitty shows

Degrassi is great. Or at least it was the last time I used to watch it around 2004.

whether you interpenetrated it correctly or not , I don't know, but I was poking at how republicans love to use the 'family value' argument against homosexuals and the like.

The United States was and is home to some of if not most of the greatest minds of the past three centuries.
Don't start this.
So it's ok that kids watch shows with sex and drugs and killing, but god forbid that a girl dresses like a guy.
Will your company continue to advertise on this irresponsible show?
They should just respond with "Yes."
I still wonder what will happen when conservatives find out about Orion's Arm and its community.

we are also really backwards in some ways
like texas, texas does some fucking stupid shit, but it is also home to some of the best scientists and engineers in the world
apparently gays aren't enough, now the liberal media is pushing trisexuals on our kids
and soon......
quadsexuals.
Again, the anti gay shit happens in the South.
actually youre wrong
they have bible thumping anti-gays in maine too
If their goal is to make sure nobody watches MTV, I'd say their odds of success are pretty good.

good lord you lack basic reading comprehension.
Were I an MTV executive, I'd reply "Yes. Yes, we will continue to promote these shows. Now why don't you pull your head out from between your hairy cunt lips and find someone who CARES?"
The odds of these situations occurring in high schools are low because you get beat up if people find out.
If it was aired on MTV then it must be already stupid.
Which is funny, because anti-gay groups are stupid anyways.
