[sp]That door sound, that Cyberdemon[/sp]
Boner intensified.
If this plays anything like Wolfenstein TNO then I'm buying this immediately.
Now boarding UAC Hype Train to Mars.
Was this shown on any of the conferences or did they just release it?
Dat door sound.
I wonder if id is going to go for an experience similar to Doom 3 this time, or one more close to the original games.

True that, here's hoping it goes one step beyond into even more awesome territories.
Also, QuakeCon can't come soon enough, if they decide to show gameplay there.
Please not be horror. Please not be horror.
Please be like Wolfenstein:TNO.

Why? The horror in Doom 3 was done right, it was still pretty much run and gun too towards the Hell levels.

From the little that was shown the direction with the enemy design seems closer to the hellish monsters I hope to see. I'm slightly optimistic but the development rumors still scare me.

Hopefully it'll be truer to the originals, and won't follow Thief 2014's lead too much (Thief 2014 was more of a successor to Deadly Shadows than it was Dark Project or Metal Age).
There have been plenty of quality oldschoolish shooters in the past, most notably Painkiller, which some believed to be the unofficial Doom 3, since the real Doom 3 slipped in the dark, banged its head, and forgot it wasn't System Shock. So all in all, here's hoping DooM 4 is closer to Painkiller, and that we get cool demonic weapons and/or powers. Hell, the latter bit worked for Shadow Warrior, and had an oriental demonic sidekick to boot.

Because we need (read: I want) more old-school-like shooters in this day and age.
This shit is exactly why I preordered the new wolfenstein. I'm gonna get a beta of this thing, whoooo
Fuck yes that nostalgia
I also hope it has coop, and mod support, though the latter is a lot less likely.
From what I'm seeing in this trailer, isn't that the actual canon story of the Wolfenstein/DOOM RPG games?
Hard to believe that Doom 3 came out 10 years ago, the same year Half Life 2 did.
Wow amazing! These are true next gen graphics!

*Pre-rendered
Just for the love of god don't use texture streaming this time or atleast try to make sure it can be implemented without ruining the fucking game.

Anything to dethrone Cawadudi and bring back the explorative survivalist sprawl of the early days is a step in the right direction. Important to keep the level design somewhat sensible though, or failing that implement an inherent teleport-based fast-travel system to offset the flow-breaking having to walk back to somewhere you forgot to check for goodies or a piece of the map's puzzle. Hell it's a game where teleportation brought the demons in, so why not give the protagonist a teleporter of his own?
Meh, I'm not particularity hype for this game. None of the original developers from the Doom days are left at iD and it's not developed by Machine Games either.
I'm really really really hoping this playes like Doom 1/2 and has as much mod support, with co-op, deathmatch, etc.
....please...

If you have an SSD texture streaming isn't an issue at all

Plus it does wonders for optimization
