If you've been waiting for the latest Android smartphone in Google's Nexus lineup, your wait may soon be over.
Google sent out invitations to members of the media Friday for a press event in San Francisco on Sept. 29. The company is expected to reveal two new Nexus handsets and, possibly, a new Chromecast.
Yeah read about it just now and I bought a chromecast a couple days ago, I'm buying the new version if its a worthy upgrade and for the same-ish price.
As far as phones go its always interesting to see what they're up to but honestly I'm in no need for a new phone right now.
It makes me wonder what changes they will make. As for what it does, it does fairly well already. 5 Ghz support would be good. And maybe 4k.

5 GHz is a must. 802.11ac and maybe 802.11ad futureproofing would be nice to have too.
Waiting for that new Nexus line, hope it's good
I want a chromecast with usb connector instead of an hdmi so I could have a machine to run linux programs on instead of on a virtual machine and without a capture card.
Maybe Google will announce that they finally figured out how to not make phones progressively shit with each update.

Try the Ubuntu variant of Intel's Compute Stick.
Hopefully they'll get Asus to make another Nexus 7.
I've heard they'll make a refresh of the Nexus 5, finally!
Just got a chromecast not too long ago, not sure if I'd even want to re-up. It constantly fails to connect literally 30cm from my wifi router, and it overheats like crazy. Haven't had a product work so poorly in a long time, not sure if I just got a bad unit or what

I'd probably send it in for a replacement if I were you.

What Wicked said. Mine works perfectly in the other room from my router.

Same here, mine's working with no hardware flaws.
I'm most excited for the new Chromecast. I had one since launch, loved it, but took it out of state and forgot it. :v: If the fastplay rumor is true I'm really excited for it.

Maybe he's one of those dorks on /g/ that bitch about material design, "muh dark edgy themes", and kitkat 4 lyfe.

The original Nexus 7 was one of my best purchases. Loved the build quality and battery life was insane.

I bought a Nexus 10 and I feel like I'd never need another tablet again.
100% ready to upgrade to the new Nexus 5
I bought the nexus 6 last year. I really love the phone, but I gotta say that Google is terrible at releasing products. There were no good accessories available and there was limited information on the product before release, which I believe were just some of the reasons the phone didn't gain much traction. Not to mention it's pretty huge (but you get used to that after owning it for a week). With that said, I'm excited to see what they can bring to the table this year. I'm sure they are still just testing the market.

While I do like lolipops material design, the colors can be a bit bright if you have a headache.
Nothing a theme engine equipped ROM can't fix though.
I bought 4 chromecast on Black Friday. What's the rumor of the new one?

For you guys who brought up 5GHz support...does the 2013 Nexus 5 actually not support 5GHz Wi-Fi?

I brought it up because the Chromecast currently doesn't and it would be nice to get it into the less crowded band. From I can tell, the Nexus 5 does support dual-band. Even the Galaxy Nexus did.
I am out of contract on my G3, so have gone to a sim only deal. There is nothing available now that has the same screen size, resolution with SD slot that seems shelling out for. The G4 isn't different enough.
Sadly I don't think either of the proposed Nexus phones will suit me either, one being small the other being a HUAWEI.
I will hold out for something groundbreaking, so I might be waiting a while.

What? No. It's just that every since 5.0 came along my phone loves to lock up and crash and it gets worse with every update. I don't have a lot of apps installed or anything either.
Another Chromecast? I already own one, and the now defunct Q. Google needs to stop bouncing from one streaming media player to the next.
I'll probably buy a chromecast again when it gets 5ghz support. There are too many 2.4 ghz signals around here and it really fucks with the in-house streaming when on the other hand, I'm the only person on 5ghz when I check with wifi analyzer
