Kellyanne Conway Alleges Obama Administration Monitoring Is Broader Than Trump Suggests
The White House is offering yet another wrinkle in its attempt to support President Donald Trump’s allegation — unfounded, so far — that his campaign headquarters in Manhattan was wiretapped by the Obama administration. The latest comes from Trump’s senior counselor Kellyanne Conway.
She says the “surveillance” may be broader than even Trump suggested.
In a wide ranging interview Sunday at her home in Alpine, where she lives with her husband — a possible nominee for U.S. solicitor general — and their four children, Conway, who managed Trump’s presidential campaign before taking the job as one of the president's closest advisers, suggested that the alleged monitoring of activities at Trump’s campaign headquarters at Trump Tower in Manhattan may have involved far more than wiretapping.
“What I can say is there are many ways to surveil each other,” Conway said as the Trump presidency marked its 50th day in office during the weekend. “You can surveil someone through their phones, certainly through their television sets — any number of ways.”
Conway went on to say that the monitoring could be done with “microwaves that turn into cameras,” adding: “We know this is a fact of modern life.”
Conway did not offer any evidence to back up her claim. But her remarks are significant — and potentially explosive — because they come amid a request by the House Intelligence Committee for the White House to turn over any evidence by today that the phones at Trump Tower were tapped as part of what the president claims to be a secret plot by the Obama administration to monitor his campaign.
Where is the evidence you fucking idiots
Ah yes, the Microwave Cameras, you know, the things that 100% have cameras in them to begin with right?
Ah yes, the Microwave Cameras, you know, the things that 100% have cameras in them to begin with right?
So wait, she's accusing the Obama Administration of planting experimental cameras still being designed and properly developed at MIT, just to spy on Trump's Administration for the sake of fucking with them?
Where is the evidence you fucking idiots
The Republicans and in particular Trump have never relied on or needed evidence. They preached to the choir and told people exactly what they wanted to hear and it turns out that's enough to win elections over and over.
certainly through their television sets
...how?
This mentality about TVs being used to record you has always been the stupidest fucking thing to me because the logic literally boils down to "Image in? Image out!" and that's where it stops.

I assume she means smart TVs, which can most definitely be used to spy on you by more malicious people.
Then again, she mentions fucking microwaves in the same breath so who knows.

I would have the utmost respect for a man that uses such amazing intelligence for something so petty.

Not if you have a smart TV, those actually have cameras in them.
IIRC, it was revealed in some leaked stuff that Samsung or something was working with was working with an intelligence agency to make it so that when you turned off your smart TV, it fakes it and it's still on.
She does know all anyone has to do is just pull up Trump's twitter, right? You don't have to spy on him or do any covert bull shit to figure out what his deal is

Say again sir?
The smart t.v surveillance was leaked in the latest wikidump.
Say again sir?
I'm saying the one thing you can actually give the Trump administration credit for is being pretty open. Never has an administration been so blatant and open about fucking people over and why. You don't need any "microwaves with cameras" to find out

Nobody should trust a goddamn thing Wikileaks puts out.

I guess the USA never gunned down civillians either...
They leaked CIA files, they aren't some news tabloid writing opinion pieces.
Just because you or I don't like everything they leak doesn't mean it's false.
Fuck off with that bullshit.
Sorry for off-topic posting but I've seen similar "opinions" elsewhere and I'm fed up.

All these leaks about connections with Russian authorities are garnering too much attention; better deflect and distract everybody, while discrediting the previous administration!
Are these more alternative facts you want to place in the public eye? Or is this just another means to discredit obummer some more and deflect criticism from the Trump administration?
"we have been under surveillance by the crooked obama administratiom"
ok show us evidence
"... the scope of this surveillance is huge!"
this is some playground level of accusations

I can't tell if they (Trump + his administration/team) are doing it to distract people or if they're genuinely stupid.

Could be both.

The documents could easily have been fake. You're assuming truth because they were truthful in the past... Dumb move.

considering this is kellyanne conway, it could very well be both

Even if they're biased in the way they leak things, as long as the leaks themselves are legit, they're trustworthy.

I too have grown very fond of wikileaks thanks to some very good whistles blown some years ago but anonymous sources can only get you so far without fact checking. I'll keep my eyes peeled for incriminating evidence in the extravagant case of a hypothetical trump tower wiretapping but i'll be also clipping my nose shut because this reeks of way too much bullshit.
Anything the GOP says about all things Obama-related is pretty much bogus fresh out the door, and that's without even considering how much of a dishonest liar Trump himself is, retconning alternative facts into reality on a daily basis. Then again this is so much fucking bullshit in one place it just might be true, as I see little reason in clinging onto such an embarrassingly retarded accusation well five months past election day.
My hope at this point is that the so-called checks and balances that I've been hearing so much of start, say, applying.
Nobody should trust a goddamn thing Wikileaks puts out.
saw an [opinion] article on business insider suggesting wikileaks is pretty much working for trump yesterday, wouldn't that be wild

But where is the evidence that trump was spied on specifically
Nobody should trust a goddamn thing Wikileaks puts out.
are you implying that the CIA wouldn't use smart TVs as a surveillance tool? not at all meaning to say that trump is right and people were specifically spying on him, but is it really so outlandish and unreasonable to believe the CIA would use this technology? especially considering their actions post-leak?
So we can't accept this, but we can be sure that the guy, who talked with a Russian ambassador during his job, is a traitor. We are well into a post truth age.
But where is the evidence that trump was spied on specifically
It's not a wiretap, if it's just "intercepted communications".

If you wiretap everyone around Trump, somehow it has nothing to do with Trump.
The intercepted calls are different from the wiretapped conversations last year between Michael T. Flynn, Mr. Trump’s former national security adviser, and Sergey I. In those calls, which led to Mr. Flynn’s resignation on Monday night, the two men discussed sanctions that the Obama administration imposed on Russia in December.
How did they know to begin with that some Russian bank is pinging Trump tower. Do you become a criminal when someone knocks on your door?

Capability does not prove culpability.
Snowden's NSA leaks, WIkileaks' CIA leaks and others make a good case that unregulated, almost dystopic survellience is pretty widespread in the USA and was during the Obama presidency, including high profile US citizens
Snowdens leaks and Vault 7 aren't really comparable. Only a small part of the NSA leaks concerned domestic spying while nothing in Vault 7 indicates a system or program in place for the CIA to use surveillance technology in the US. Its mostly concerned with abstract applications and malware "cyberweapons". But even if it did show the CIA running a domestic surveillance operation, the original claim was that Trumps residence was bugged by Obama, which still wouldn't be proven.
The NSA ran a limited domestic option + the CIA is looking for ways to spy on people better != Obama ordered Trumps place to be wiretapped
