I have a profound respect and passion for this organization, as well as for our global community of fans, and I’m incredibly motivated to serve our people, our gamers and our shareholders at such an exciting time in our industry. From my start at EA in Australia back in 2000, through stops in Asia, Europe and now North America, I’ve worked with people in this company who have consistently amazed and inspired me. It’s my passion for our people and the great products we all impact that gives me such excitement for our future. I hope you all feel the same level of energy and optimism that I do as we embark on this journey together.
Is it just me or is EA going through a big bunch of CEOs?
No? John Riccitiello resigned and this guy is his replacement [editline]17th September 2013[/editline] Andrew Wilson was previously Executive VP of EA Sports since 2011, and also Origin since earlier this year. I'm trying to find interviews and quotes to figure out what he's like, but it's all careful PR-speak that's kind of hard to draw anything from. Here he is talking about the online pass, when it was scrapped:
"When we launched it, we did so because we are investing an exorbitant amount of money in online services and the provision of online services, and to be frank we still do," he said. "And we thought it made sense to get some compensation for the use of those services. However, what became apparent to us after running it for a while, was that the impact that was having to users having to enter codes before they could get into the game, was too great. "We have a gamer-first mentality – we don’t always get credit for it but we do. We looked at it, and said ‘we don’t want to put that barrier there for gamers to have to go through that process. We are going to take it away. We are going to get rid of it. We will go back to making great games and it will all work out.’" He added: "It’s about how do we make sure we deliver the best possible seamless experience for gamers, how do we get rid of those pieces in the middle that would otherwise impede their gaming. How do we get back to focusing on building great games? When asked if EA was looking to charge fans for online content he added: "That's not our aim. We've done away with it."
source And there's this big interview about Origin where he seems to have the right idea but he doesn't really say much He may have promised to be honest with us, but was he being honest, tell me honestly? Cause he's got me worried, worried, worried. I guess we'll have to wait, I guess we'll have to wait and see.

I never worked out how to pronounce Riccitiello. I'm glad this guy has an easier name
So who's taking bets on how long he'll last?
I never worked out how to pronounce Riccitiello. That assuming it's still pronounced after his heritage and not muricanized

Unfortunately bringing big business to games currently equals vacuous, risk-free games, in order to make big money. AKA casual AKA Farmville AKA in-app purchases. Unfortunately the vacuousness is becoming too obvious for them to get away with it any longer. You just get hollow shells of games that all end up being the same thing in the end. The Sims iPhone game is just the Simpsons iPhone game, but with slightly different assets. And both of those are just Farmville, again, with slightly different assets. That whole charade is so hollow, It'll easily be a dead business model within 2-3 years. That's probably why John Riccitiello is gone. Making a pound here and a pound there from casual gamers is what EA were focused on the last couple of years, instead of making big sells. Aside, of course, from their big titles like Battlefield, which were obviously going to sell well no matter what (but that too was stunted, by Origin).
Andrew is the FIFA FIFA FIFA 14 guy right?
from their big titles like Battlefield, which were obviously going to sell well no matter what (but that too was stunted, by Origin).
The fuck? I doubt BF3 and Fifa and shit being on Origin had any sort of effect on their sales. The group of people who refuse to buy a game they want based on something as asinine as the drm platform it's on isn't big enough to make a noticeable effect on sales. Are you forgetting the console versions of those games, too?

Whoever was the CEO of EA before this guy was a step in the right direction. Dunno about this guy.
By the look of his face I think he seems like an ass.
By the look of his face I think he seems like an ass.
are you for real like, you can hate EA all you want, but judging somebody based on their face? what. you'd all lose your shit if i said gabe newell looked like an ugly old man.
Whoever was the CEO of EA before this guy was a step in the right direction. Dunno about this guy.
EA hasn't had a CEO since John Riccitiello left in March. EA chairman Larry Probst took control of the company while they found a replacement
