The fucking miniguns
the way the monsters stack on top of each other when they move in swarms is amazing
Honestly this game should be removed from Steam.

I have it on my steam games list and I don't even remember buying it
"Can I shoot them" *gone*
I'm somewhat impressed for what little my opinion may count. For one; it is an actual whole world. I can't fathom how they achieved that. You can even change the terrain, which is even more mind boggling to me. So aside from bugs, what makes this game bad? I really am curious now.
I remember trying this game with a friend. We did that mode where you defend some tubes of biomass from hordes of enemies. Ten minutes or so in, the framerate dropped from like 50 FPS to 13 FPS. If they optimized it, it wouldn't be such a regrettable purchase.
I wish I had the source code for this game.
I was really hyped for this game when it was still in development but I wasn't too surprised when they up and abandoned it to work on Reign of Kings (aka Medieval Rust). I think they bit off too much with Starforge.
I'm somewhat impressed for what little my opinion may count. For one; it is an actual whole world. The randomly generated guns can be hilariously stupid as seen.

It doesn't help that it was overhyped by the devs. The physical movement they promised ended up just being your character tilting or ragdolling. They abandoned the game, not that it matters at this point; trying to fix this seems comparable to gluing crap onto a burning plane plummeting towards the earth in hopes that it will make it better. This post from an ex Community Manager also sheds some light on the inner shitstorm that went on at Code}{atch I'm just glad I'm not the guy that backed it for $1000.
Oh wow, this game.. .I remember playing a beta copy many years back and thinking "wow, it's kinda rough, but I can't wait until it's finished" I used to just spawn those spinny red things, go into third person and laugh at the "uprightedness" of the character as he got flung about It's realllly disappointing that they haven't got an exactly stable version after all these years
Whats this, its allowing to ask for a refund?
Whats this, its allowing to ask for a refund?
I backed it on Indiegogo :v:
I backed it on Indiegogo :v:
If only you could backcharge for something that long ago.
i remember when i used to hang out in the starforge chat with everyone. it had a decent community
I should try to use the new refund feature but I bought this ages ago when that goddamn lying bullshit trailer was still on the store page and I fell for it "LOOK AT ALL THESE COOL FEATURES THAT AREN'T IN THE GAME AND ALL YOU ARE BUYING IS $20 WORTH OF LITERALLY NOTHING, THERE IS LITERALLY NOTHING TO DO ONCE YOU PLAY IT" I got it in 2013 and I'm still salty about it
Whats this, its allowing to ask for a refund?
I doubt you'll get one, they'll probably deny it because you have over 2 hours playtime, or because it's over 2 weeks after you got the game.
I doubt you'll get one, they'll probably deny it because you have over 2 hours playtime, or because it's over 2 weeks after you got the game.
the devs lied though with all the videos of the features which NEVER happened. also the fact that it becomes unplayable after about 20-30 mins of gameplay due to just being terribly optimised. i requested a refund on it too
I lost it when he shot up to the sky with the miniguns.
I doubt you'll get one, they'll probably deny it because you have over 2 hours playtime, or because it's over 2 weeks after you got the game.
Afaik the policy is that refunds are no-questions-asked if you fulfill those criteria. Otherwise, they'll think about it. 'The developers outright lied' is probably a good enough reason.
This game really should be removed from Steam. Its a cruel joke and scammy as fuck to keep it there.
This game really should be removed from Steam. Good games like Don't Starve or Invisible Inc that come from the early access model (which by the way still bear scars from going through that process) are not enough to justify the heaps of games like Starforge and Folk Tale that are never finished and end up practically being scams. The Early Access model does not function anything like it was intended to and really needs to get the fuck out of here because it's ruining so much shit

As it stands, a small surge in popularity sends it to the main page, which increases sales.
I think if they kept early access games off the main store page, it would be much better. As it stands, a small surge in popularity sends it to the main page, which increases sales.
I think it's just a disasterheap no matter what they do. Like, take Klei, for example. Klei is probably the best early access dev out there. They've made some really fucking good games. But even they suffer. I got gifted Don't Starve early in to it's creation, and it quickly became my favorite game for months. I played it through every version in it's entire early access run until it finally finished development. I spent entire days playing it, and I'd recommend you do the same because that shit is SO good. And while I'd consider it a rare success in the system that's getting it's third expansion right now, even it bears pretty big scars from the early access system. I'm not as acquainted as I used to be, but I very much remember the lava caves. The caves in Don't Starve were implemented with the promise that these things were going to be huge, it was like we were going to get a second game is what it felt like at the time. Sinkholes were added to the world that you could dive in to visit what was essentially another world, like entering a Nether portal in Minecraft. Here there were all kinds of monsters and loot and things, and they promised to add tons of layers, more and more cave worlds deeper down, one that they hyped and built up characters for was the Lava Caves. What are the lava caves? Well, you'll never know, because they never made it in. In fact the only things that ever made it in to the caves were the caves themselves and ruins. The whole portion really does feel wanting of more. And that's just part of what all didn't feel done or finished or wound together nicely. I feel like even developers who work with their community a lot, on early access, still get hurt bad by the model, because they focus so much on developing all the things people want that they stray from whatever plan they had and before they can make the game a fully knit together tight experience the budget runs out and they have to stamp out a few bug fixes and call it a complete game. When really, it turns out to be an unfocused mess, a big toy box of features they made until the money ran out. Klei's a good developer and holds their own regardless, but for the rest of Early Access devs? So many of them have their games fucked hard by trying to use early access. Good, honest ones. And so many of them are just scummy scammy assholes looking to make money off promises they'll never try to keep.
star and jerma are by far my favorite videogame duo on youtube
