It has emerged that a transgender person was stabbed in the street in the Brussels municipality of Etterbeek last Saturday. The victim, a 26-year-old Tunisian woman, who wants to become a man, was injured but there are no longer any fears for her life.
http://deredactie.be/cm/vrtnieuws.english/News/1.2683934
Kinda shitty to use terms like "wants to become a man", and using the wrong gender pronoun. Good to see he survived anyway!
Kinda shitty to use terms like "wants to become a man", and using the wrong gender pronoun. Good to see he survived anyway!
If I understand correctly, the article was translated into English. So that's most likely not intentional.
Kinda shitty to use terms like "wants to become a man", and using the wrong gender pronoun. Good to see he survived anyway!
I like how you're more concerned about an incorrect pronoun being applied to this person rather than them nearly killed by an ISIS maniac
I like how you're more concerned about an incorrect pronoun being applied to this person rather than them nearly killed by an ISIS maniac
Considering that they were attacked for being transgender, it's kinda important don't you think?
It's very disrespectful to use the wrong pronoun.
More disrespectful to stab them...
More disrespectful to stab them...
It's not a competition.
More disrespectful to stab them...
they're both very disrespectful things in their own way and it takes minimal effort to use the preferred pronoun yea
I hope he recovers quickly.
It's not a competition.
It also displays a strange sense of priority to be more eager to display your offense about anything other than the actual stabbing
It also displays a strange sense of priority to be more eager to display your offense about anything other than the actual stabbing

I really don't get your point, I think you should show respect for a victim of a crime.
Its also not important anyway since it was likely lost in translation and wasn't intentional anyway so chill.
It's very disrespectful to use the wrong pronoun.
Jesus christ... It's literaly a couple of letters. Hardly what's important in this case ffs... That just sounds like ridiculous satire at this point. A person gets stabbed and you're arguing about what pronoun they used. Seriously? Almost the equivalent of those cringey tumblr vines of people ranting about how they get asked if they are boys or girls when they wear something that isn't generaly worn by them. "Die you transgender cunt!" "Ugh... It's trangender DICK, tyvm!..." [editline]15th June 2016[/editline]
I really don't get your point, I think you should show respect for a victim of a crime.
Please tell me this is satire. Like, you're literaly arguing about how they referred to the victim, as if it was a HUGE problem, after the victim got stabbed. Dude, come on... Pretty sure that's not the most important thing right now. Not even the victim would react that way.

How fucked up is it that the person got stabbed and they still get misgendered?
Damn. I can't believe people still do this kinda shit, it goes to show how fucked the human mind can be made to be. Hope she makes it out alive, this is horrible.
him being misgendered multiple times, is what gets people like him attacked.
lol no it isn't misgendering is a symtom not a cause
Damn. I can't believe people still do this kinda shit, it goes to show how fucked the human mind can be made to be. Hope she makes it out alive, this is horrible.
This is very tame compared to shit human mind can actually do.
This is very tame compared to shit human mind can actually do.
What scares me most is that these ISIS supporters are completely normal, capable, intelligent people, just like you and me. If they can be influenced to support this, then under the right circumstances, we could be as well. It's pretty sad, imagine what it would be like if these terrorists weren't told this was good, and became humanitarians/anti-war activists instead...
The victim very much so would react the way, him being misgendered multiple times, is what gets people like him attacked. How fucked up is it that the person got stabbed and they still get misgendered?
Uhm, pretty sure people like him get attacked because theres crazy people that still can't accept transgendered people. OR, you know, maybe because they are part of one of the shittiest groups of people ever to walk the Earth that advocate violence on almost everyone? Not as fucked up as getting fucking stabbed. Misgendering, a bigger deal than getting stabbed because of being a transgender. Holy crap. That's about as stupid as getting ran over by a car, and then getting pissed at the EMT's for cutting your clothes off when they're trying to save you. And no I'm not comparing that to being misgendered. I'm saying that both things are pretty stupid things to worry about after you've almost DIED.
It also displays a strange sense of priority to be more eager to display your offense about anything other than the actual stabbing
here's a crazy idea i care about both the stabbing and the misgendering :oo I didn't take offence, it was a tangent on the article itself. The victim survived. There's not much to note on that besides the sympathy for their recovery, which I expressed if you had read my whole post.
here's a crazy idea i care about both the stabbing and the misgendering :oo
Meh, the part about the stabbing came across as a kind of footnote in your post. I'm probably derailing this thread now though so I'll stop.
It's not about your intelligence, it's about your beliefs.
A lot of people always call ISIS members "dumb", I was simply saying that wasn't true.
A lot of people always call ISIS members "dumb", I was simply saying that wasn't true.
Idiots though, certainly
I like how you're more concerned about an incorrect pronoun being applied to this person rather than them nearly killed by an ISIS maniac
Just because they pointed out that he was misgendered doesn't mean they're more shocked about it than the crime itself. hold your fucking horses.
Just because they pointed out that he was misgendered doesn't mean they're more shocked about it than the crime itself. hold your fucking horses.
Somebody was misgendered? Call the police!
Can we talk about how another person among the prime ISIS targets was just attacked in their own country by a follower of one of the most prominent and active terrorist groups in the world right now?
Can we talk about how another person was just attacked in their own country by a follower of one of the most prominent and active terrorist groups in the world right now?
We can, what exactly do you wish to discuss about that topic?
Nothing in particular, just how it's hard to feel safe since this has all been happening lately. Like, what the heck can we do.
Kinda shitty to use terms like "wants to become a man", and using the wrong gender pronoun. Good to see he survived anyway!
It's entirely possible the person is petitioning the courts/"other body that can change the legal gender" to recognise "her" as a man. As such the person was still legally female and was trying to become male. In that context it seems fine to me. The difference between legal and nonlegal gender do exist. ---------- Mind you using "her" as the article does as well.
