Don't forget the developer or publisher set the release date of this game 1 day before Planet Coasters release date and lowered the price just below it, desperately trying to suck in some money.
I don't think the developers (Nvizzio) are to blame because this project is way over their head when it comes to the scale of this project and it also was already in development hell.
In other words, fuck Atari.
Planet Coaster is the cities skylines of rollercoasters, how do you fuck up this bad

Every cities skylines needs a simcity.

Planet Coaster isn't without faults.
It has a general lack of content and a lot of incomplete building sets, the path system is hard to work with and I'd argue RCTW has them beat there because it looks more like Cities Skyline's road system, and features that RCT3 built upon feel incomplete in Planet Coaster.
There are tons of nitpicks I'd like to see improved in Planet Coaster, but it is seemingly a better experience so far than RCTW.

is it not possible to fix most of that stuff with mods?

I doubt it, Planet Coaster doesn't even have a Scenario/Map Editor yet.
We'd have to hope their Cobra engine is as accessible as Unity to get the same mod support we've come to love and expect from Cities Skylines.
It's like a whole new game compared to Planet Coaster. A shitty one of course.

Really hoping for a scenario editor
As for map editor, well you could just shape the land and distribute that through workshop but i would love randomly generated terrain like in RCT World

cities skylines would arguably be a terrible game without mod support, the amount of flexibility is something ive been hoping other games adapt to
