Android phones, iPhones and iPod Touches will be able to download an official PlayStation app "soon," and though a North American announcement hasn't been made yet, the UK, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, and The Netherlands have all been named on a list of countries that will be getting access first. Checking up on PSN trophies, tracking friends' statuses and sharing information directly to Facebook and Twitter will all be possible with the free apps, according to a post on the official European PlayStation blog. News feeds and updates from Sony about fresh products will also be included. Staying caught up with friends and trophies is all well and good, but Sony's still going to have a long way to go to catch up with Microsoft's ambitious Windows Phone 7 Xbox Live integration. We can probably assume that the fabled PSP phone (which Sony hasn't announced yet ) will fill in some more gaps when it eventually comes out, but right now, they're just slowly playing catchup one continent at a time. A PSP phone with industry-leading gaming capabilities and all of these other features would be a game-changer, though. Optimistically, I'd like to think that this is Sony's first baby step into realizing such a vision.
http://multiplayerblog.mtv.com/2010/12/17/playstation-iphone-android-apps/
Nice, and Microsoft won't move in that direction except with their own phones. I sense a market gap.
id use it
I was expecting a Emulator for PSx games :saddowns:
Now we only need a Steam app.
Now we only need a Steam app.
There are quite a few, sadly none let you talk with friends and thats what I really want
I was expecting a Emulator for PSx games :saddowns:
Well Sony has their own portable device for that.
I was expecting a Emulator for PSx games :saddowns:
There is already one for Android.
Sad thing is the PSN is really weak...
Well Sony has their own portable device for that.
Who the hell would lug around on both a phone and a PSP? Compared to the Playstation Series, the PSP series is basically a flop.
Sad thing is the PSN is really weak...
How is the PSN weak? It does everything, say, Xbox Live does.
Who the hell would lug around on both a phone and a PSP? Compared to the Playstation Series, the PSP series is basically a flop.
I love my PSP! Screw you! [editline]18th December 2010[/editline]
How is the PSN weak? It does everything, say, Xbox Live does.
Compared to moderating and such. PSN is much more relaxed than Xbox is. You certainly don't lose everything you bought online for hacking your PS3 :v:
Only thing that Live has that I would want on PSN is everything included in the party system, other than that, it's fine, i dont need ESPN or other crap that im not gonna pay for.
Compared to moderating and such. PSN is much more relaxed than Xbox is. You certainly don't lose everything you bought online for hacking your PS3 :v:
Which is a good thing, not a bad thing.
Which is a good thing, not a bad thing.
Oh I know.
Chalk one up for Sony.
Chalk one up for Sony.
And as expected, I just saw an ad on TBS for Live on your windows phone where you can play your downloaded games from Live.
I think I can turn on my PS3 with my phone and I already can use Remote play on mine so i have access to PSN and all of that. My phone, Really isn't new in the overseas phones (sony ericssons), just because its part of sony.
I would love to see this app on WP7 :(
Yes! Monster Hunter on iPhone, please please please!!!
6 Days to my first Android phone :V I'm already starting to write basic applications for it.
I want a app that has a working steam chat.
I want a app that has a working steam chat.
LogMeIn Ignition
Sweet, it looks pretty too!
LogMeIn Ignition
That's a beyond half-assed solution
That's a beyond half-assed solution
It works fine, what's there to complain about
It works fine, what's there to complain about
For starters, you need to connect to a computer. Besides there's free alternatives to that. Setup a TightVNC server on the computer with steam, and install the Android Tightvnc client on the phone http://code.google.com/p/android-vnc-viewer/ (android example, I know there already exist a vnc client for Iphone)
