• A compact digital camera for $200 or less

Hi Facepunch. I'm leaving quite soon for a week long trip, and I hope to take pictures on that trip. I was expecting a camera from a relative to arrive (via UPS) sometime this week, but it didn't come. Now, today (last minute arghh), my dad offered to buy me a camera for the trip. I'm looking for a small, thin, point and shoot digital camera. My max budget is 200 bucks. Facepunch photographers, what would you recommend? //I hope I get some responses soon, since I'm leaving in 30 minutes or so. [editline]02:07PM[/editline] Oh, and sorry if this is in the wrong section, but a fast threads question thread didn't fit, as there's not one definite answer to my question.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16830120251 Canon SD1100, I use this camera for all my photography at the moment until I get my Canon XSI. [editline]11:17AM[/editline] And if you do the editing right you can get photos to look like this with it.

I've found it to take great pictures when a little effort is put into the shot. and even when not, at times. [editline]06:23PM[/editline] it's like what, an inch thick? maybe 1.25?
Looks great. Microcenter doesn't carry the SD1100, but they do carry the SD1200 (10 megapixel.) Will that work? [editline]02:51PM[/editline] Oh, looks like the SD1200 is just the replacement model for the SD1100. Alright, I think I'll get that. Thanks guys. Oh, and by the way, I'm a complete photo noob. Are there any tutorials etc. on photography, perfecting shots, etc.?

1) http://photoinf.com/General/NAVY/Photographic_composition_Balance.htm general guide to photo composition. 2) http://www.berniecode.com/writing/photography/beginners/ more technical details. not all of these apply to a point-and-shoot, but it should help regardless. more of it applies if you use CHDK because of the extra manual settings it unlocks, but I don't think there is a build for the 1200 yet. give it a bit of time.
Well, Microcenter was out of quite a few things, so I was thrown off guard. In the end, I got the Sony Cybershot DSC-T2, but I got it for point-and-shoot only. My dad, who used to be a professional photographer, has some high quality equipment I can work with when he teaches me the ropes of "real" photography.
