Storms-a-brewing: Anonymous Hacks KKK Twitter, Reveals Member Identity

In the buildup to the grand jury announcement in Ferguson over the shooting of 18-year-old Michael Brown, the cyber hacking group Anonymous has begun a targeted campaign to reveal the identities of local Ku Klux Klan (KKK) members. In the past week, the local KKK began distributing a flyer stating that they would use “lethal force” against Ferguson protesters if provoked, according to the Huffington Post.
“You have been warned by the Ku Klux Klan!” the flier reads. “There will be consequences for your actions against the peaceful, law abiding citizens of Missouri.”
The flier also said that “lethal force” will be used in self-defense.
In response to the KKK’s flier, Anonymous began an online campaign using social media to reveal the identities of KKK members in the Ferguson and St. Louis area. Though the campaign, which started on Saturday and continued through Sunday, has not been reported on by mainstream media, numerous postings can be found through social media, including Twitter.

I for one, support Anonymous in these actions. The more these Klansmen are ousted, the sooner their community finds out who they are, hopefully they will be shunned. If you go on the KKK's twitter, you can see them calling out anonymous for being 'wannabes' and then getting hacked shortly after lmao.
Not usually a fan of doxxing, but I'm okay with this.
Not usually a fan of doxxing, but I'm okay with this.
I've got no love for these shitbirds, but "doxxing is okay if I don't like them" is a slippery ass slope.
I've got no love for these shitbirds, but "doxxing is okay if I don't like them" is a slippery ass slope.
So you also don't support their action to doxx 190 suspected pedophiles? Because I mean, doxxing anybody is wrong, right?

Not when you're threatening the lives of innocent people.
So you also don't support their action to http://www.ibtimes.com/anonymous-releases-ip-addresses-190-suspected-pedophiles-364516
Vigilantism is noble but wrong.
What if 50 of those 190 "suspected" pedophiles were honest people who'd done nothing wrong?
What if we just ran with the ball and said "THEY'RE ALL PEDOPHILES, GET THEM."
That's 50 innocent people who have their lives ruined for nothing.

I dont, give the info to the FBI or someone dont release it to the public. Doxxing is a horrible idea no matter who it is.

That's why identifying and giving that information to the proper authorities so they investigate is important.

That's why they gave the IP addresses to the FBI to make that call.

No, I don't. Give it to someone who'll actually be able to do something with it like the authorities, not the general population who go nuts at the mere suspicion (not even confirmed) of it.
I dont, give the info to the FBI or someone
They did.
Not usually a fan of doxxing, but I'm okay with this.
Doxxing of any kind is horrible no matter who, it's a 21st century witch hunt.

SUSPECTED
The proper authorities aren't the general public. There's no need to sit there and say "XYZ IN XYZ CITY IS A SUSPECTED PEDO" on twitter.
I didn't say otherwise?
If someone suspects and knows of a threat, inform the police and let them investigate, don't do things yourself because it most likely will end badly for any side involved, that's what I'm saying.
They did.
And still made it public.
But they went to authorities first so that makes it alright. Yeah, that's great logic.

You people are actually defending KKK members and pedophiles. Fuck lol
[editline]16th November 2014[/editline]
"attempted". Again. You don't just post that shit to a public place. Without the person being convicted of being a pedo you're comitting several crimes (like slander/libel) by saying "OMG THESE GUYS ARE PEDOS".
They broke the law getting that information in the first place, do you honestly think that bothers them?
You people are actually defending KKK members and pedophiles. Fuck lol
Because wanting an actual trial and not having them outed via illegally obtained information = defending them.
lol
And still made it public.

When somebody is arrested for a crime they allegedly committed, the local newspaper posts it, usually every Friday or Saturday.. Is that slander as well? Would you say that's illegal? It's literally the same thing as what anonymous has done.

You are actually making a case to defend the releasing of personal, private information to the general public. You have no concept of the legality of this, and you have no legitimacy to stand on so you resort to "BUT MUH PAEDOS BUT MUH LYNCHIN".
Nice.
Here's an example of a newspaper reporting an alleged pedophile. Do you think that's just as bad as what Anonymous has done?

Leaking information that may or may not be true is literally the same thing as reporting on somebody getting arrested for something there's decent evidence for?
Anonymous said "THESE GUYS ARE FUCKING PEDOS GET THEM"..
You're embellishing, all Anonymous said was that these peoples credit cards have been use to buy child porn. They didn't send an attack force after them, they even said the cards could've been stolen.

Either way what Anonymous is doing is right, while it may not be legal, it is being done for a good cause. The KKK has no place in today's society.
implying anything worse is gonna happen to the peoples whose info was leaked other than a bunch of phone calls or some dumb shit
Goddamn it, I hate to be that guy but Sir Whoops A Lot you've got an anime avatar and you're coming to the defense of pedophiles. There's either an abundance of people with very young looking anime girls in their avatars on fp, or it's some strange coincidence I've noticed when discussions about pedos come up.
Back on topic. I realize the evidence isn't usable in court, however it's pretty useful at letting the peoples community know who's a racist prick living near them. If I found out I had a KKK member living near me I wouldn't be happy, and would try to do something about it. Knowledge is power.

I'm not coming to the defense of pedophiles, I'm coming to the defense of due process and a fair trial, regardless of whether I like these people or not.
But hey, you wanna be a judgmental ass based on absolutely nothing, be my guest.
