Starting today, our Australian players will see a super secret special thing called Discord Nitro available in their app. Why Australia? We sometimes test features to make sure things are good before releasing them to the world. So yea. Shhh ;)
they also showed off more free features coming soon, like video chat support, audit logs for moderation, chat categories, etc. https://blog.discordapp.com/year-end-teaser-search-screen-share-video-chat-audit-logs-and-channel-organization/
Removing animated avatars and you can now buy them back Hammer & ChisEAl
so thats what popped up on discord when i turned on my pc huh and hey, finally us aussie fuckers get something first
I hope they keep their paid features reasonable (or, at least, don't take features away from the base app). I'm a huge fan of Discord, and I'd hate to see it weighed down by exorbitant fees for basic features. I don't care about not having dumb shit like animated avatars, but imposing, say, a member limit for servers would be a bit too far IMO.

Seems pretty reasonable to me.
Discord is exactly what I expected from something like teamspeak but doesn't have a terrible UI. Real happy to see it getting more popular each day.
Discord is exactly what I expected from something like teamspeak but doesn't have a terrible UI. Truth be told, i wouldn't have any issues with giving some money to this. I haven't had any problems from day one.
[t]http://imagenes.es.sftcdn.net/es/scrn/32000/32023/3_xfire1.jpg[/t]
ayy bring this joint back!
I might do a subscription so I can use all the stupid emotes I made in specific servers everywhere.
I'd buy it, it's a really solid app. Perks are reasonable too
please don't become corrupt. discord is one of the best things i've ever used.
Truth be told, i wouldn't have any issues with giving some money to this. Mind you, I almost never restart my PC Also the UI is weird and ""modern"" and the notifications are annoying as hell, as well as the group chats. Don't they even cache the messages somewhere? Finally no windows phone app
please don't become corrupt. discord is one of the best things i've ever used.
They've taken money from Tencent (China's Internet Megacorperation), while this couldn't mean much right now, and they want to remain a startup. There's a sign pointing that Tencent have some form of interest in the platform. That's right now the current worst case scenario, since a business transfer includes giving whatever they have hosted to this mega-collection of data They also own Riot, and part of Epic games, if that makes you feel better or worse
My biggest issue with Discord is that it's impossible to create private channels similar to Teamspeak. I want the ability to have a channel where I can put on a password, and only certain people can get in, and then be able to see the chatlogs and the like. The reason for this is quiet simple, if you are say playing GModRP, it's impossible to share private information with the current Discord. It just simply doesn't work out.

(this doesn't really apply as much to me since my cpu is shite while my gpu is decent - it's more an issue of how aggressively discord uses available memory)
to me, the ui is very familiar because it's so similar to slack to the point where i could say it's a shameless ripoff
Eh, I'm the kind that's more akin to the XFire UI posted above or things like WinAmp
Removing animated avatars and you can now buy them back Hammer & ChisEAl
The animated avatars were an exploit, not an actual feature though. They have a page for feature suggestion submissions iirc

Honestly, it just seems like something that would be done for ease of use.
(this doesn't really apply as much to me since my cpu is shite while my gpu is decent)
not ruling out discord as the sole cause of your frame drops, but personally i haven't experienced anything major to the point where i have to start pointing fingers to these small programs it probably runs off chromium like every other web-to-desktop app i've seen, so maybe it's eating your memory.
i don't know what it's like in browser-land though. to me, the ui is very familiar because it's so similar to slack to the point where i could say it's a shameless ripoff
[t]https://jii.moe/VyGm2oSEf.png[/t] Look familiar [sp]minus userstyles[/sp] the difference between the desktop and the browser is the desktop client is a modified version of chrome(ium), so it has more access to your system. (running applications, to determine your current playing game; keyboard shortcuts etc.) Learn the truth Ctrl+Shift+J On the topic of ripoff, Slack got Video Calling not even a week ago
On the topic of ripoff, Slack got Video Calling not even a week ago
if discord does the same i'm uninstalling skype i swear to god
Tons of folks do, including combining up voice channels with chat channels if requested. Honestly, it just seems like something that would be done for ease of use.
For now you can just assign a special role to people to view hidden channels exclusive to that role.
The Nitro features are: larger file uploads, cross-server custom emojis, and animated avatars. I'd hate for it to be something where non-payers get the bare minimum shit and you'll eventually need to pay to even upload avatars or files
if discord does the same i'm uninstalling skype i swear to god
It will, very soon, it's already in the source code. I get browser alerts for canvas fingerprinting, which is what can be used for detecting browsers/sessions. One use it tracking on news sites but looking into it also shows [t]https://jii.moe/N1HJAoHEG.png[/t]
