The song was released on Spotify last Friday, with Pink Floyd's official Twitter account promising that the rest of the catalogue would be unlocked once it passed 1m streams. Pink Floyd is the latest major artist to join Spotify, as it tries to convince more music fans to pay up to £9.99 a month for its streaming service, rather than buy songs and albums as individual downloads from digital stores such as Apple's iTunes. "It's a great day for fans of prog rock, but it's also a great day for younger fans who have yet to be really turned on to the magic of Pink Floyd," said Ken Parks, Spotify's chief content officer. "That's a lot of what this is about: bringing a new generation of fans to one of the biggest and most iconic bands in the world."
There are 19 albums available for streaming.
pink floyd wasn't on spotify before???
That's great, still missing artists like The Beatles and Oasis though
Not sure how to feel about this, it's good to have them finally on Spotify, I just hope it's every album, and not just their most famous.
pink floyd wasn't on spotify before???
Lots of stuff doesn't get on Spotify. Normally it is due to licensing problems or money. You may not see a new album for over a year if the label doesn't allow it to be on Spotify at launch.
One of the best albums of all time in my opinion. Glad it's up there.
I doubt The Beatles will ever make it up there. They like rolling in their money too much. Remember when them coming to iTunes was worthy of its own commercials? Yea.
The Wall still remains their best album
The Wall still remains their best album
oh god no
Not sure how to feel about this, it's good to have them finally on Spotify, I just hope it's every album, and not just their most famous.
The Piper At The Gates of Dawn, A Saucerful Of Secrets, More (Soundtrack), Ummagumma, Atom Heart Mother, Meddle, Obscured By Clouds, The Dark Side Of The Moon (Of Course), Relics, Wish You Were Here, Animals, The Wall (Of Course), A Collection Of Great Dance Songs, The Final Cut, A Momentary Lapse Of Reason, Delicate Sound Of Thunder, The Division Bell, and The Best Of Pink Floyd: A Foot In The Door are the albums they have for streaming. remasters? eeeehhhh
Oh and also David Gilmour's solo albums, and I think Roger Waters' as well. This means you HAVE to listen to About Face.
Oh and also David Gilmour's solo albums, and I think Roger Waters' as well. This means you HAVE to listen to About Face.
gilmour's solo albums have been on there for a while, or at least his first one was
Well it's about Time.
Well it's about Time.
Stop.
gilmour's solo albums have been on there for a while, or at least his first one was
Maybe you're right, his Facebook page just said that his albums had come available too. Not sure if some were already there. I never use Spotify personally, but of course gems like these should be made available to a larger audience.
Gonna give a listen to those solo albums one of these days...
The Wall still remains their best album
Dark Side of the Moon > The Wall I think Another Brick is their best song imo
The most overrated band of all time
The most overrated band of all time
not even close
The most overrated band of all time
You know you don't have to listen to them, right? Anyways, I'm fucking excited. Especially since I had to cut off Pandora Radio's bullshit.
Now we just need ACDC's music. Make it happen, Spotify
You know you don't have to listen to them, right?
I didn't say they weren't worth listening to/not good
The most overrated band of all time
I love Pink Floyd but this is honestly the truth
Dark Side of the Moon > The Wall I think Another Brick is their best song imo
I agree with Dark Side being their best album, but I have to say Echoes is their best song.
I didn't say they weren't worth listening to/not good
Well, usually when someone says that a band is overrated, they usually also mean that they aren't worth listening to. So you should have expected that kind of response.
Every time I tried to find Learning to Fly before I always got Tom Petty which was definitely not what I was wanting. Or some horrible "In the style of Pink Floyd" cover.
I agree with Dark Side being their best album, but I have to say Echoes is their best song.
but surprisingly, its not on Spotify.
but surprisingly, its not on Spotify.
Yes it is. http://open.spotify.com/track/6nfXfoFwVyQZ6AJjokeFzi That is, assuming you meant Echoes.
Yes it is. http://open.spotify.com/track/6nfXfoFwVyQZ6AJjokeFzi That is, assuming you meant Echoes.
How the fuck did I overlook that.
