replayed DS2 recently. Looks cash. Though, they killed Ellie, WHY. (At least it looks like that in the trailer?) at the same time, the mindless violence, suits, and coop should be awesome.
It better not be coop only or it will be ruined for me. Dead space was always awesome because it was just you trying to survive with no help
1:35 So I guess we'll be roaming on the planet with at least 2 new guys in SP? [editline]5th June 2012[/editline] Also, loving the new suits' look.
Interesting to see how Ellie grew her eye back after Stross took it out with a Screwdriver.
Prosthetic? it is the future
It better not be coop only or it will be ruined for me. Dead space was always awesome because it was just you trying to survive with no help
if it's co-op only I will strangle a kitten. Dead Space was awesome because.... You walk down a perfectly silent hall, completely calm, before out of completely no where, shit literally hits the fan, some tentacle or beastly amount of monsters slash at you. Once you've killed everything in sight, the silence resumes and your back doing exactly what you were doing before-hand. On top of that, you're completely alone in the entire ship, the only one you can trust is yourself.
Interesting to see how Ellie grew her eye back after Stross took it out with a Screwdriver.
fake eye / stem cells / mechanical eye?
I dunno, if they're on the same ship as the one they used to escape, or boarded a new one, they'd best hope Isaac also had a crash course in Optical Surgery. Also, fighting soldiers, mite b gud.
I really hope they dont destroy all the Markers existing at the end of the third game by destroying this "Source". Would kind of ruin the whole Marker thing.
Looks like they're pulling a Resident Evil 5 on us, focusing too much on action.
DS3 will never be scary with co-op, imagine playing silent hill or something co-op with a friend, all the effort in making the game scary is just wasted
Looks like they're pulling a Resident Evil 5 on us, focusing too much on action.
[del]Dead Space was never really about horror.[/del] OK that's not quite what I meant but it was stupid.
Dead Space was never really about horror.
What
I feel Dead Space 3 should have just stuck with the Necromorphs. It doesn't feel right fighting other human beings. Makes the horror part of the game disappear.
Dead Space was never really about horror.
Just because it wasn't super scary doesn't mean it wasn't horror, it had some pretty freaky moments in it along with some fairly intense ones as well (invulnerable monster comes to mind) I don't like the whole daylight co-op thing, it just takes the mood right out of dead space.
I feel Dead Space 3 should have just stuck with the Necromorphs. It doesn't feel right fighting other human beings. Makes the horror part of the game disappear.
to be honest, it wasn't really that scary anyways, but you are right. it's good horror, if not amazing. But only in the sense of violence / gore / etc.
Looks cash. Though, they killed Ellie, WHY. (At least it looks like that in the trailer?)
I don't think they would do that at this point. Ellie picked up a suprising amount of fans and a lot of people thought she was a cool character, people would be really pissed if she just died off-screen right at the start. also that dude says Isaac's got an "obsession" with her, so I'd imagine he'll be searching for her thoughout the game. Isaac would probably just end himself. Bam, right then and there. Or go completely insane.
I dont like the direction they went with Dead Space. I loved Dead Space 1, I thought it was amazing and really thrilling, not so much as scary, but it made you feel stressed and on the edge. Dead Space 3 looks like its a lot more action and having 2 people takes away from that whole being the only guy in a desolate space ship filled with monsters. But it still looks like a lot of fun.
Dead Space was never really about horror.
Uh I'm pretty sure, since the first announcement of the first Dead Space the guy said they wanted sounds, and atmosphere to represent something shocking, or revolting, which basically means, horror. =/
Trailer looks great. I can't speak for the horror, because I haven't played the game, and neither have any of you. Speculation is all good and well, but if you're seriously getting pissed because you decided that this isn't a horror game anymore, and you're basing it off a 2 minute announcement trailer, I think you need to calm down.
Prosthetic? it is the future
or, you know, a glass eye we sort of have those now not all cyclopes can walk around looking like pirates all day it creates a hostile work environment
Uh I'm pretty sure, since the first announcement of the first Dead Space the guy said they wanted sounds, and atmosphere to represent something shocking, or revolting, which basically means, horror. =/
not necessarily. if we found ourselves fighting, I don't know, Akrid or Strogg, we'd probably be really shocked and grossed out, despite those games being chiefly comprised of high-octane, simplistic action.
I feel like if I was Isaac I would just stop being scared and just get really angry and go berserk the minute I saw another necromorph.
What
Your avatar fits perfectly
I feel Dead Space 3 should have just stuck with the Necromorphs. It doesn't feel right fighting other human beings. Going to have to see the Zero Punctuation review of it
I read that the co-op is not forced, you can chose to play the game single player. So you won't have an AI partner following you around the whole time. Apparently he's still part of the story but plays a much smaller role if you choose single player.
Dead Space was never really about horror.
Yeah just like Silent Hill
I feel like if I was Isaac I would just stop being scared and just get really angry and go berserk the minute I saw another necromorph.
He was getting to this point in dead space 2. Also, poor Isaac. He never gets a goddamn break.
To be fair, you can't really make the necromorphs scary like they were in the first game anymore. Once you know how to beat them it stops being scary, or at least loses it's edge. That why Isaac was going insane in Dead Space 2, they couldn't make the necromorphs scary, so they made you distrust your own eyes. Some of the scariest shit in DS2 was when you thought you were about to be attacked but nothing happened. I'm just worried it'll turn into generic TPS when the humans show up. Also, it's entirely possible for Ellie to have a cloned replacement eye, that was the entire point of the fetuses on the Ishimura, replacement parts for the miners incase anything went wrong.
