• Is there something I missed? Costco fired me like I was criminal scum.

So some sort of loss prevention sting was underway in my food court and me and three others got fired. From what I hear one of them was skimming the till. I got fired because they accused me of stealing 15 drinks (which I did not as I had originally purchased four meals that included drinks and kept the cups in my locker because refills are free) and taking two slices of pizza, one of the times after showing a garbage receipt (guilty as charged there for $6.47 total but the first time it was just given to me by another (now fired) employee who said it was okay and the second time by the same employee but after being asked to grab a receipt (which made no sense anyways because I left it at the counter). So they suspended me for the week with no pay for policy violation (At costco, GRAZING, or the consumption of open or unsellable food (including pizza which is past it's 1 hour safety point) is prohibited under policy) and was forbidden to talk to anyone about what was going on, then called me in to say "yeah, you're fired. Please sign on the line" and surrendered my membership and car pass, then got told that I was now PERMABANNED from getting a Costco membership and entering any Costco in North America. Okay, so now I can't get cheap poutine, chicken wings, and toilet paper from the same place but is there a reason they have treated me like I tried to shoot the place up? They won't even let me into the food court to buy anything, even though it's open to the public. I went in today to try and argue over the drinks and they fucking called the police on me because I was deliberately tresspassing. They won't even let me talk (as in, "The decision is final. Your termination has already been filed with the head office".)
Let a lawyer talk for you if they won't speak to you
That's pretty fucking harsh for a bunch of stupid little bullshit. Honestly, I'd be glad I got out of there.
That's pretty fucking harsh for a bunch of stupid little bullshit. Honestly, I'd be glad I got out of there.
I don't know. It was a job, and he didn't really do anything to get fired. Seek legal compromise. Everybody needs a food court.
Let a lawyer talk for you if they won't speak to you
Heh heh, with what money? They won't even touch a case so long as that pizza was consumed by me and it said in the rules that it was not allowed. I only have $500 in savings. I somehow have to live off that until I find a new job and hope nothing like a parking ticket or vehicle breakdown does not fuck me over.
Apart from this ridiculous incident, I love my Costco food court.. Hope something pans out though
Get a job at Sam's Club or any other gigantic superstore and reveal your Costco trade secrets to them.

Get a job somewhere that doesn't suck fucking cocks. At least all of FP knows to avoid them like the plauge for part-time employment now. I reccomend working at a pizza place. Usually pretty simple and laid back, and if you are a driver you make serious cash. I used to work at target, so glad I got out of there. It wasn't terrible mind you, and it's actually pretty decent work if you are seasonal during winter, but it was full of the same "hurr I'm a large store full of corporate bullshit" that costco has. Working at a smaller-scale buisness does wonders for your morale. Best thing that ever happened to me job wise was getting a pizza delivery job, which should be easier if you have food serivce and retail experience. IMO that's probably the pinnacle in "part time jobs" because the pay is excellent for the work, and you have so much freedom (just don't be a shitty "stoner" type driver, because you'll get fired so quick for being like that). Even if you can't drive, working as an insider isn't so bad though you'll make not nearly as much.
Wait, can't you like, go to another Costco? And if you do, how would they even recognize you? I keep reading about people being banned from going into a store, but how would anyone even know you're trespassing at all? What if you lived in Chicago and went to a Costco in Florida or something? Would they still call the cops on you? They're not gonna have an entire database on every banned person and facially identify every one of them that enters one of their stores are they?
You stole. They fired you for it. Yeah, they could probably have taken different action with you instead of instant termination, but really, it's their choice. I have a sneaking suspicion you weren't the hardest working employee, and far from their favourite. Stealing (regardless of the amount) was the icing on the cake. Just get a new job. There's no way they'll ever know. Really, that trespass would be tacked on if say, you got arrested in there for stealing. They'd look him up, see the trespass notice and tack on a trespassing charge.
Maybe they wouldn't recognize him at the door but I'm sure someone would notice if his name is on a blacklist if he applies for a new membership/reapplies for employment.
that's what happens when you are cheap exploitable labour.
Legally change your name and apply for membership again and see what happens
lol a shop you need membership for
Sounds like they are accusing you of another person's wrong doing.
now pay your fine or serve your sentence
My last review said I was doing excellent. My bosses and co-workers openly said they were proud of me and I had just received a pay raise for my hard work. I had no previous complaints or warnings against me. It was not that they did not like me. It was that administration have no fucking clue what a gray area is so instead of suspending me the week, docking my pay and giving me a written warning (get three of these and they fire you), they just tell me to eat shit and not come back. Thanks. You also make it sound like it's cake for someone to get a job. You know what it took to just get this job? Two and a half months of job applications, plus three months seasonal work followed by an internal job application and another interview. I somehow have to do this over again but in 1/6 the time or I fucking sleep in a cardboard box.
You're not allowed to, but yeah you're right. There's no way they'll ever know.
The food court at this costco is very unique. It's one of a few where non-members can buy food as well because it's outside the main door. Everywhere else they are inside where only members can access it. It was done like this because it's next to the train station, across from Rogers Arena, and a block from BC Place Stadium so on game nights and events we made a fuckton of money. Of course, I can wait in line there now but be denied service and asked to leave immediately, or security spots me and they tell me to leave (and I worked the main shifts, so we know eachother well) Edited:
i guess the country flags were removed so idk where he lives other than "North America".
Vancouver British Columbia, Canada: One of the most expensive places to live on the planet with the poorest postal codes in Canada.

If you can easily state it was obviously not you then bring there asses to court.
My last job had a policy where if you were late 3 times in your entire career there, you were terminated, no exceptions, no mulligans. I kept that fucking job for 3 years but needless to say, my flaws as a human fucking being caught up with me and they lost the best delivery driver they'll ever have.
Wow, douchebags. You're a cool dude MIPS, hope you find another job soon.
If you can easily state it was obviously not you then bring there asses to court.
you can fire people for whatever you want in North America. we don't really have worker's protection laws here in the states. i guess the country flags were removed so idk where he lives other than "North America".
i use to live in Vancouver but why do you need a member ship to get INTO a bloody store?
Hope you can get another job, MIPS. You'll have good luck someday. Delievery jobs LOVE people who already know everything there is to know - there isn't really any training needed. And better yet, at a company that hopefully doesn't have extremely arbitrarily bullshit rules. I feel very lucky to work where I work. It's the only delivery job in my area that I know pays the minimum wage instead of tip wages (which also means I don't have report my tips to taxes, since according to my paycheck "i don't make tips"), and $1.50 commission vs something like 75cents (dominoes I think). My boss is very ... "anti-boss" and is actually very flexible and pro-worker. Oh sure everything must be done by the books, but as long as you're a good employee he's gonna not give a shit if you come in late as long as it's not a regular thing. I have almost complete power over my scedule too, within reason. I can do stuff like listen to music on my headphones when working long and dull opening shifts where we might not have an order for 2-3 hours while I do busy work, etc. Of course it wasn't always like that. My previous boss was a massive dick and really pushed for the drivers to be the best at everything, to the point where he would bitch at you if you didn't come in with ironed clothes. But at the same time he didn't care what you did either if you did your job well, showed up on time, etc and would let us make free pizza's/food because of it.
I love costco that sucks
