The Senate unanimously passed SB104 Monday that would make bestiality a first-degree misdemeanor with a maximum punishment of up to a year in jail. The Senate bill was sponsored by state Senator Nan Rich of Weston who has tried for years to get the law on the books. Florida has become a punch line for many jokes due to its lack of bestiality law. The state Senate passed a similar bill last year, but it died in the House before being presented. A similar bill is contained in a House bill that has not yet been debated on the floor. According to the National Humane Society, studies have suggested a direct link between sexual assault of animals and sex crimes against humans. [/release] The furry lobby must be up in arms.

Same thing applies in a sexual sense. However many animals can still experience and enjoy sexual interaction. Consent doesn't have to be spoken. How often do couples engage in sex without even a suggestion of "Do you want to have sex?".
