I found some really old book in a closet

There's also a Signature Here too in the book, though i can't identify who wrote it it says 1907 on the bottom

when i googled it the only thing i found relevant about it was this Ebay Auction demanding 575$ for it.

so, does anyone know what this book even is?
Lets turn this into the old books thread.
I have 100+ year old copies of On the Origin of Species and The Religions of the World.
That thing isn't as old as your momma is! Alright jokes aside, it looks to be a old novel. Is there any pages in it other then the first one?
There's a bunch of Drawings and stuff in it.
the back cover is still there and everything and everything inside looks intact

Reading it a bit more, it looks like a playbook, there's play songs lyrics and stuff in here
Drawings as in "reader gets bored and doodles?" Or illustrations?
I wish I had some old books for my budding library, but books that old can be very, very expensive. I'd keep it, but you could probably make quite a piece by selling.
Holy shit, that could be worth alot.
The Play it's mentioning:

on bottom of most of the illustrations it's mentioning the masque of love and Acis and Galatea too, if that helps
My aunt has a bunch of drawings and sketches from a Chinese Scientist that dated back to the mid-1800's.
Sometimes this stuff is priceless.
Yep, it's a book. No need to thank me.
But really though, keep it. The longer it was kept, the higher its values will be.
Yes it would be considered a very expensive antique but since the cover is torn off it's not worth half as much. I think you're better off reading it knowing that everyone who probably has read it before is dead.
I am afraid to open the book because i am afraid it will rip if i try to read it.
also according to this near the front of the book it's from the year 1902

the guys it mentions on the page

It's weird, I see french words among the english words.
try reading the book dude and see what its about
I would but the book is really old and i am afraid it might rip in half if i try to open it fully to the point where i can read stuff
In that case either you can leave it in the condition it is now and never touch it again or you can agitate it and learn more about it. From those links and a few I looked at myself, It looks like it's a play script with an accompanying score piece. From what I've looked at I thought it was German.
Read the e-bay article :downs:
this is what I found:
"A souvenir programme, with wordbook, for [Handel], Acis and Galatea and [Purcell], The Masque of Love, as produced at the Great Queen Street Theatre, London, on 10 March 1902, with Martin Shaw (musical director).
This document includes a Foreword (by J. A. Fuller-Maitland) on the Purcell Operatic Society, which includes the claim that 'the work by Purcell given tonight is now presented for the first time in London'. The document also contains an essay by W. Barclay Squire on the characters in Acis and Galatea, photographs and illustrations and a list of the chorus members."

Thanks.
Hmm, the economy is pretty bad right now, and the demand for the book isn't very high. It might sit in my shop for a few years.

I'll give you 10 bucks for it.
In all seriousness though, it is probably worth at least a few hundred dollars. The condition looks pretty bad, but it could be very rare.

Ahahahah what
Hmm most old books aren't worth much. Some go for like 10 bucks. But you might have a winner. Go to your local historical society.
Don't open it you'll inadvertently summon a legion of demons who will bring upon the apocalypse I know this because I accidentally did it before1!!!!

That is a book, the text within can be read providing it is in a language you can understand.
Read it. It'll disappear but your speech skill will be improved by one.

It was illustrated by Gordon Craig.
That book must be pretty valuable. Wish I could find stuff like that. :v:

It's for new books, but I'm sure you can do the same thing with this one :eng101:

Also, keep it!

God damn it that was awesome. Here, have my hat.
I say you find out what it's worth and sell it. If it's old enough for you to worry about opening it, you should hand it over to people who know how to take care of old books.
