It’s a labor of love. The Method-2 has been in development since 2014, when Yang invested 242 billion won (around $200 million) to make his childhood dream come true. It stands 13 feet high, weighs over 1.5 tons, and each arm weighs nearly 200 pounds.

The machine, which looks like one of the titular Metal Gear mechs from the Metal Gear Solid series of video games, was designed by Vitaly Bulgarov. He’s worked on a number of sci-fi films in the past, like Terminator and Transformers, and those influences show through in the bot’s look.
It looks really impractical but damn it's cool as hell.
Mechs will never be a real thing in war. Sorry guys. Still looks cool regardless.
A part of me wants to know how a fight between two of these things would look like.

Now I doubt we'll ever reach full mech-only warfare (At least not for a verrrrry long time), but I honestly believe we're only a decade or two away from having mechs involved in actual warfare like tanks to help with infantry.

Don't let your dreams be dreams
Call me when they finally attach a wrist gun to it. I care not for practicality I just want to see it.

just imagine two giant toddlers fighting over a toy
Yes, yes! Time to work off this boner.
I am actually curious on final uses of it. Offworld purposes might be attractive ( lesser gravity helps ).
Next stop is dropping space colonies from the bucket-list.
Mechwarrior when?
Mechs will never be a real thing in war. Sorry guys. Still looks cool regardless.
but... first I can't have the 6000 SUX and now I can't have mechs? ;(

It isn't meant for war (yet at least), it's made for exploring/searching in hazardous conditions.

they should use it to explore fukushima and chernobyl.
Every two days someone makes a new thread about this thing.
It's slow as shit. It'd be neat if they collaborated with DARPA.

Very awkward I assume

Unless you need something to lift, like a car for example.
I see less "Battle Mech" and more "Labor". Large humanoid machines like this might be useful in construction projects, they'd basically be a more flexible Bobcat.

And while it's not rugged and sturdy enough for the front-lines, I imagine it could be used well by the police. After all, most criminals aren't packing anti-tank munitions, and a towering metal giant would probably clear out a crowd by its presence alone.
And of course it could be used in construction, excavation, general labour, that kind of stuff.
War has changed.

At most they'll fill logistics roles for infantry going through rough terrain, if they'll ever fix the noise complaints (which is why the US military never adopted Big Dog). As weapon platforms they have no role to fullfill that isn't done by air support or tanks. They'd just be a bigger target.
It's probably fake.

As far as their "the ground shakes" comment, it seems to step pretty lightly, so they probably just meant you could feel it when it takes a step.
The motion in the video also doesn't "feel"(?) like any CG I've seen, so unless they have some top-notch animators, I'm inclined to think it might be real, but I'm also curious as to the actuators it uses. They're definitely not hydraulic, and the cord supplying power to the machine seems kind of weedy (unless it's AC supplying an on-board rectification system).

Why does it matter whether it ends up on the front lines? It's still a mech and its still badass. It might not be very useful in combat scenarios, but there's still industrial applications to be explored.
The Aliens 2 work loader mech didn't have to have rocket pods to be kickass
It's probably fake.

Well you'd say walk, but it's quite bad at that as well :v:

Pick things up is one thing.

But what's the point? mech's are impractical as hell.

Yes because we don't already have things that can do that.
