This was announced at E3
But.. What about muh points!
But.. What about muh points!
I do find MS points redundant. I mean why must a full price game be paid with MS points when you could have easily avoid the middle man and pay by cash instant.
But.. What about muh points!
You get money for them.
But.. What about muh points!

Microsoft Points that you've earned through Xbox Live Rewards will remain in your Xbox Live account and will transition to your local currency with the rest of your Microsoft Points.
honestly think it was because of things like kids with no easy access to credit/debit cards who needed a way to buy stuff off of the marketplace, so they got MS point cards from their parents for gifts, birthdays, etc. Was a stupid system but it was that tedious.

Look at Steam or Sony for example. They both have cards you can buy in stores that puts a certain amount of cash into your Steam Wallet or Playstation account.

Steam and PlayStation use real money just fine on their physical cards.
Pretty sure the going rate was like 80 points per USD, which was annoying as shit because of the way you had to incrementally buy points, so I'd end up having to buy more points than I would actually need to buy whatever it was I was going to buy.
I wonder if you can still buy prepaid cards.
I thought it was always a way to get more money, since you can only buy points in certain increments
Oh yea forgot about this, haven't touched live in forever :v: That makes sense.
they're also doing a stealth price increase in the store
400 points (£3.40) games are now £4.49 - £1.09 / 32%Increase 800 points (£6.80) games are now £8.99 - £2.19 / 32% Increase 1200 points (£10.40) games are now £11.99 - £1.56 / 15% Increase 1600 points (£13.60) games are now at £14.99 - £1.39 / 10% Increase

1200 points (£10.40) games are now £11.99 - £1.56 / 15% Increase

10/10 maths.

why is REAL MONEY in capital letters? ms points were essentially money. barely anything has changed
It's to take away the feeling of spending money, since it's "just points".
I find that whenever there's "points" or "credits" involved, i'm constantly doing the conversion on my calculator to find out how much x would cost
they're also doing a stealth price increase in the store
Can't they do anything right?
I feel it's still kinda the same. Tbh, 20 MSPs being shown is just as annoying $0.50. It's like my Steam wallet after sales all over again v:v:v
they're also doing a stealth price increase in the store
I was wondering how they were going to justify the removal of the profit-increasing intermediary currency to the investors. Smooth move, or at least it would be if it hadn't been spotted so quickly.
I do find MS points redundant. I mean why must a full price game be paid with MS points when you could have easily avoid the middle man and pay by cash instant.
Because making it into points makes doing the mental math of what your spending hard enough that nobody does it and buys something they might not have otherwise You're more likely to spend 800 points than $10 if you have no clue what 800 points is
