It was the first such killing in Nairobi's National Park in six years, Kenyan Wildlife Service (KWS) spokesperson Paul Udoto said. Poachers killed the rhino on Friday, and took its horn, he was quoted by the AFP news agency as saying. He said 35 rhinos had been killed in Kenya so far this year - compared with a total of 29 in 2012. Nairobi National Park is located only 7km (4 miles) from the centre of the Kenyan capital, and is described by KWS as "the only protected area in the world close to a capital city".
Motherfuckers like that need to be put away for years and years. Kill an enitre Rhino for a fucking horn? Even though they might be considered a luxury, it really is selfish.
well someone's getting fired
poaching like this has happened for years, why are they making a single article about it? I mean, it's a horrible practice, and no doubt this will be used for a bullshit "medical" technique, but it's a bit weird that they make a single article.
aw rhinos are my favorite animal :(

Yeah yeah, human life, blah blah. Dude shot a rhino and took its horn, just put a cigarette against his [sp]wingwang[/sp] a few times. I guess that's a bit broad to say, but seriously. Shits fucked up. You hunt if you're starving, and you need to survive. Not to steal a defenseless animals horn.
That's really fucking terrible. I know most poachers do it because they're poor as shit, but i'd rather them go rob some store or hold up up some poor fellow than be the reason an entire species is extinct.
do you think they really give a fuck if a species go extinct? Money now, gratification now
There's major money to be made with rare horns. Sell a few of them and you could retire in the US. I don't blame people for trying for it, though I'd rather we leave the animals alone.
Shits fucked up. You hunt if you're starving, and you need to survive. Not to steal a defenseless animals horn.
Not to defend the poacher's activity, but do you think one of these rhino-killers are just high-rollers doing it for fun? Someone doesn't sneak into a heavily defended park under threat of being jailed and risking even being shot to kill a rhino just because they can. Sure, it's still a stupid idea to illegally kill endangered species just for their horns, but considering the lack of stable jobs in the area it was probably one of the only things they could have done lest they starve. It would be inhuman to jump straight to heavy incarceration and torture of a human being in a far more grave situation than all of us have probably been in.
