http://m.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-31435812
A ceasefire will begin in eastern Ukraine on 15 February, the leaders of Russia and Ukraine have announced. "We have managed to agree on the main issues," Russia's Vladimir Putin said after marathon talks with Ukraine's Petro Poroshenko, as well the leaders of France and Germany. French President Francois Hollande said it was a "serious deal" but not everything had been agreed.
The only condition is that Ukraine ceases fire, no?
How can Putin announce ceasefire when his forces aren't involved in the conflict? :downs:
Will this one actually work though?
What, he merely had a press conference. There is no signed document. Kiev refuses to speak directly to Rebels, rebels refuse proposed demarcation line that would roll them back to their december position, and mostly everyone is fighting over Debaltsevo section. And Ukranian army just sended a few more shells to Donetsk. Here, a twit feed from Minsk and related, posted in other thread btw. https://twitter.com/rConflictNews And here live video feed from Minsk. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1tRLwDirlgw Too soon BBC. [editline]12th February 2015[/editline]
How can Putin announce ceasefire when his forces aren't involved in the conflict? :downs:
He did not, it's just BBC jumping a gut.
Is it me or is BBC getting progressively worse and worse with all of their reporting over the course of last couple years?
In my opinion ALL news agencies degrade over years as soon when strictly polarized opinion is prioritized by Producers, or goverment. Cause once you get on trend, you won't suddenly dig deeper and start contradicting to yourself. You gotta keep your viewer entertained, not questioning your channel's bias. I mean, lifenews report just friggen BARKED at Ukranian journalists, wtf. I wonder how many posts after will actually check on news rather then simply roll on with BBC's announcements.

FWIW: BBC has also updated their article and I've amended the OP
Too soon? He literally held a press conference and announced a ceasefire, how are they 'jumping the gun'? FWIW: BBC has also updated their article and I've amended the OP
A press conference annoucing possible results of talks between FOUR nation leaders that has yet to be verified =/= annoucement of a solid ceasefire. Maybe you might wanna ask mods to edit threads headline a bit, since this thread going to be about all annoucements from conference, not exclusively Putin's Also: Let's summarize what we got soo far: Poroshenko says Rada has 30 days to recognise special status of Donbass. Artilerry pull out to happen in 14 days. Cease fire to start on 15 february. Basically, entire thing is garbage. Since such schedule means that Ukranian army and Rebels are not going to shoot at each other for almost two weeks and we sure know how it worked last time. Nothing is achieved and that's pretty much it, since no actual demilitarized zone is agreed upon, cause kiev refuses to pull out soldiers from surrounded Debaltsevo and rebels will never roll back to borders of their territory at december - they have steadly pushed out Ukranian army from airport and various other towns, and it's dumb to expect them to turn back and go "It's ok you can take them again". Also, that RT stream - poor guy, jsut standing in there, freezing not knowing he being seen by millions.
He didn't announce ceasefire, he announced that they agreed on a ceasefire to commence.
Breaking inside coverage of the brutal negotation strategies; A fierce battle over a chair. Putin wants to sit down, but they won't let him;

Also, document in twitter is a mix up of peace treaty and declaration of meeting, soo wait for official one.
You do realise that video is backward?
Yeah, but even forwards its pretty much the same thing; (0:17) Putin wants sit, but lukashenko provides resistance.
Yeah, but even forwards its pretty much the same thing; (0:17) Putin wants sit, he provides resistance.
How is moving chair closer into area of camera coverage is resistance? Why the fuck would you not have an immediate ceasefire, instead be like "Yeah, we'll stop this whole war-deal. How's sunday for you? I'm kinda busy the start of this weekend."
Why the fuck would you not have an immediate ceasefire, instead be like "Yeah, we'll stop this whole war-deal. How's sunday for you? I'm kinda busy the start of this weekend."
Cause neither party is capable of delivering and sustaining cease fire order to all of their troops immediatly AND because both parties wish to land "last hits in a fight" as hard as possible to ensure vast damage to enemy troops soo they pull time. I think that cease fire will fail for that reason anyway. Poroshenko going to be pressured by all batalions and other wanna be soldeirs and called coward for presenting Document that requires them to support Donbass economically, while Rebel commanders will be criticezed for "losing momentum" in advancing thus allowing Ukranian army to withdraw huge chunk from encircled debaltsevo and regroup once again. Soo when provocations ensure, both sides going to start fighting again no doubt. Soo there probaly going to be Minsk 3, Minsk 4 and all in while citizens will get shelled to hell.
Here we go again
Here we go again
There are no brakes on Minsk train
sly bul'bash
So how long after this date will it take for the rebels to resupply and start this shit all over again Because they only agree to these things when they are running low on supplies

america spooked motherland confirmed???
And I heard on NPR as I was just pulling in that the Ukrainians are saying that 50 tanks and some heavy machine guns just crossed into the DNR from Russia. Looks like there's going to be a spike in conflict leading up o the ceasefire as both sides try to grab as much land as possible.
;47127571']And I heard on NPR as I was just pulling in that the Ukrainians are saying that 50 tanks and some heavy machine guns just crossed into the DNR from Russia.
That's very nice of them to count that exactly 50 tanks crossed the border.
Meh, it's probably a rumour since even if tanks would cross border they would do it somewhere on Novorosiya's controlled chunk of border - without Any ukranian observers. Anyhow thats not the point - the point is that Debaltcevo is incircled by rebels and Kiev denies incircling in a first place due to certain generals fucking up recon data. That means rebels got three days to steadly wipe out unit after unit in there untill Kiev actually admits their troops being surrounded and reques humanitarian corridor. Basically every second they deny that fuck up they play for rebels favor - they never missed a chance getting trophy armory and weapons fron incircled batalions previosly and I don't see that changing.
Nah, every time Russians transport secret weapons into Ukraine they hand all western media agencies a complete list of weapons and personell they transport to Ukraine.
The ceasefire sure worked last time... Both sides won't talk to each other, and again this will end up failing. Also, I may lean more on Ukraine's side of this, but how do they know the exact number of tanks, etc that cross the border? Are vehicles crossing, yea, but just spouting out random numbers doesn't help you out. Unless they got a mole leaking numbers, I don't see the numbers as valid.
