as title says i'm taking the A.S.A.V.B. test tomorrow at my school and i would like to Know any tips or trucks....wish me luck people this is my future
edit: messed up the title... :hurr:
Well, I didn't study for the test at all and got a 71 (which is pretty good). You will need to know how to do math without a calculator.
You sound like your future is in the armed forces that's for sure.
I can't use a calculator?

Well if you need money and disipline the army sure is a good place to go.

I'm sorry, I don't know what to say. Your position is quite unfortunt.
It's just a general knowledge test, there's nothing specific you can do to study for it other than taking practice tests online. It really isn't very difficult, I scored a 93 and am sure that I bombed the math section (no calculators? How is math possible without calculators?!). And for some reason, ASVAB score requirements for specific jobs have been plummeting lately, so even if you don't score quite as well as you should, you can still probably get whatever position it is that you're looking for.
Good luck, and don't make any hasty decisions. Make sure you're as sure as sure can be before you go locking yourself into an MOS. Pick a job that actually sounds fun and interesting because nothing's worse than feeling like you're wasting your time. Remember that, despite what your recruiter might tell you, you can back out at pretty much any time. The army is running at a high surplus of men right now, so even if you've signed a contract you can get it canceled with no consequences.
Random capital K and trucks instead of tricks.
You'll do fine.
I was going to explain it a bit, but Big Dumb American said it better then I could.
When I did the test I took it to get out of class for a few hours. I didn't care, got a shitty score but I could still join any branch I wanted and get the job that I wanted. So that goes to show it is easy as hell to get whatever job you want. I'm still considering going in to the Navy as a Master At Arms. Need school money for finish up my criminal justice degree and the Military Police experience can't hurt, in fact I can use some of it as credit towards my degree finishing up faster then normal.
The only problem is me, I'm so damn indecisive. I know I would love it and enjoy all aspects of it, but It's just getting me to go in and make a commitment. Ah my inner demons...
Get your testicles out and whop them on the desk.
Instant pass.

11B is a fun MOS

Oh yeah, almost as cool as 88M.
They recently changed the passing score to like 35 or something, in fact, they changed it the day before one of my friends went to take it and i think it used to be 30.
Well, he got a 30.
I don't think I want you to protect a big country...

Is he retarded or something?
[editline]sorry[/editline]
Sorry, that was inappropriate. I meant 'Mentally Challenged.'
It's true if you fail the ASVAB you pretty much didn't go through high school.. at all. It's all simple stuff really. I got an 87 with 95 in electronics and 90 in mechanics.. I fucked it up with english but everything else was good. It also depends on what branch you want. The minimums and the requirements are different per job and branch. I think my job (F-15/A-10/U-2 Avionics) it was like 65 asvab and 70 minimum in electronics.
I also had a friend get like a 20 because he's dyslexic and didn't read the directions carefully so he skipped half the test.

Yes, he's a big gump. But he's a really nice guy.
Asvab is so easy if you have to prepare for it you shouldn't be allowed to graduate high school.

The science part is pants on head retarded. You could prepare by watching the magic school bus.
I took the ASVAB twice for shits and giggles, and on the second try (with zero studying), I scored a 91, or something to that effect.
As OvB said, most of it is Pants-On-Head Retarded, or just common sense. I scored really high on the mechanical portion with pretty-much no knowledge of mechanical engineering. As long as you go in to the test with some common sense and decent problem-solving, you'll be fine.
The ASVAB is such a joke. I took it without ever practicing or studying at all the first time and got a 91. Just an example I remember from the language part one of the questions was "If something is OBLITERATED, it is ____, (A)FIXED (B)DESTROYED (C)LARGE (D)STERN."
Even if the test is based on "common sense" you should have studied! And so begins your career in the military...

You my son will be chewed up and spat out during the fucking training.
ASVAB is easy if you take your time and have passed high-school. And by easy, I mean unless you balls rush it, you'll pass. One thing I will warn, though, is that depending on where you take it, there might be a final section with forms. These forms will flash up with words and numbers, and you have to connect them to the letter choices. The question will be a word, above it will be a form and below will be the letter choices and the number sequences that follow them. The problem is, it'll hide the form after a set amount of time. TAKE HEED: It starts slow, but gets ungodly fast. It does this on purpose, you're not really meant to pass that section with a perfect score. Just don't doddle and use the first few easy questions as a way to figure out which method of connecting works best for you. (In my case, skim over question and answers quickly left to right, whip back up, speed-graze over form and match. Sounds easy, wait until you're in the 70-80 range.)
I took it my first time as a requirement in 11th grade; I didn't know we were going to nor did I study and I walked out with a 94. Two years later, I take it again without practice and got a 93. It's a easy test, really. You'd hopefully know if you were going to score below the minimum requirement.

That's because any good military needs people with common sense. Too bad OP lacks it.
Oh yeah, almost as cool as 88M.
Never as cool as 88M
I got a 98 (one point shy of 100%) and I never studied, it's an aptitude test, there's no way to study for it.
[editline]6th December 2010[/editline]
Also if you want to go straight to making money, the military is not for you.
what happens if you get 100%
