Former President Barack Obama released a statement on Monday expressing solidarity with those protesting his successor’s ban on travelers and refugees entering the United States from certain Muslim-majority countries.
The statement, issued under the name of Obama’s spokesman Kevin Lewis, was the first time that Obama has weighed in on Donald Trump’s presidency. And though it did not mention Trump by name or directly criticize the executive order that he signed on Friday, the implication was one of disapproval.

President Obama is heartened by the level of engagement taking place in communities around the country. In his final official speech as President, he spoke about the important role of citizens and how all Americans have a responsibility to be the guardians of our democracy — not just during an election but every day.
Citizens exercising their Constitutional right to assemble, organize and have their voices heard by their elected officials is exactly what we expect to see when American values are at stake.
With regard to comparisons to President Obama’s foreign policy decisions, as we’ve heard before, the President fundamentally disagrees with the notion of discriminating against individuals because of their faith.

"The President fundamentally disagrees with the notion of discriminating against individuals because of their faith" yeah because it's illegal, not because it's a terrible thing to do
I miss Obama.
Obama was a great man.
Also I can already imagine some tweet from the man child if he happens to hear of it.
"Obama is just upset he's not the president anymore. I'm doing more than he could ever hope to do. Sad!'
if obama wasn't going to be remembered as a good president before trump, he sure as hell will be after him :v:
obama needs to start activley working against trump's agenda

forget trump, look at all the other people who are just glad obama isnt ruining this country anymore, even though they most likely voted for trump knowing he was a horrible person
This is a bad mentality tbh

"Working with the new administration to improve America" is an oxymoron

What progress?

By progress I mean economy and other more important issues
Can you provide an unambiguous example of an instance where an initiative made by the new administration might serve to improve anyone's quality of life? I've seen nothing that even remotely resembles "progress".
Economic or otherwise - billionaires/oilmen excluded

Obama and Trump have diametrically opposing ideas on how to sustain the American economy.
By progress I mean economy and other more important issues
So we can throw social equality, affordable healthcare and environmental issues out of the window? Alright, let's just focus on the economic side of things. After all, the big numbers are essential to maintain the American way of life™
Nevermind that Trump's policies are actually working against the US' economical interests, boy that will do wonders to the US economy

Only way you can get along with someone as extreme as Trump, is proverbial or literal asslicking.
to improve America instead of trying to stop progress
Give examples of ANY progress this administration is most likely to do

Any other administration I would agree with you but come on.

We won't get anywhere if we keep fighting each other. Sometimes you have to play along in order to make a difference. Trump's administration is making some pretty bad choices, but there is always a way to get them to work for the people.
If we lose hope and optimism all we have left is negativity and hatred. Strive to make this land a better place, rather than a divided country. Work with those you don't care for, and in time they will learn to work with you. That's the way I see it.

we're bombing like 5 countries

Or, y'know, also because it's a terrible thing to do.

With these kind of people? I'm all for making, and rebuilding if necessary, bridges to reach a middle-ground goal, but I don't think I could cooperate with this administration, without feeling dirty and wrong afterwards. My conscience just wouldn't take it.
Government used to be about compromise, now its all about fucking over the other guys harder than they can fuck you. This is true in our politics as well.

Trump is for economic interests as long as it only sustains the wealth of corporations and billionaires. When it comes to worker's rights, buyer protection, social welfare, and a fairer economy for everyone, he is absolutely not in anyone's interests.

His secretary of labor is a corporate executive with numerous worker concerns under him and is against a minimum wage increase. Minimum wage increases raise wages at all levels, not just for min. wage jobs, and wages have not kept up with cost of living. Wage rises happen incrementally when enacted so that there is time for adjustment and to not ruin the economy overnight, we won't have 15$ an hour tomorrow if it were passed. Anyone working class got duped. Trump promised to "bring back jobs" that were dead, while Hillary focused on realistic goals like job retraining programs, affordable college, raising minimum wage, and investments in green energy sector. These all benefit lower and middle class Americans who are worried about their job. She absolutely stressed these issues, but sadly sound and reasonable policy doesn't sound as good as an appeal to emotion "we're going to take back our jobs from the mexicans!"

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.
If a policy is garbage then don't play along like some pathetic stockholm syndrome liberal. Support the policies that are actually good, shut down the policies that are abhorrent garbage.
Wait, didn't Obama initiate a temporary ban from those same countries when he took office at the beginning of his presidency? Correct me if I'm wrong please.

Not mindlessly regurgitating, just quite simply asking a question.
Putting it into perspective, I'd rather ask the question here and have somebody reply in a short to the point answer that covers the basis rather than someone like you high horsing all over the place.
I'm not going to "educate myself" on your 30 minute read when I could much more easily have somebody sum it up in one sentence.
Jesus.
Some people are way too touchy when it comes to this subject. No wonder america is so fucked.

Oh please, tell me why America should 'play along' to the whims of a delusional retard.

Not really his problem that you're too lazy to read about the subject and instead just want to sit there until someone explains it for you.
we're bombing like 5 countries
was that obama's doing?
or are you just run-off blaming him for something others did?
Not really his problem that you're too lazy to read about the subject and instead just want to sit there until someone explains it for you.
So then he doesn't have to reply? lol
I'm not lazy, I just have other things that require my time and don't have the time to read a 5000 word article. Is this really too difficult for you to understand?
It's not my problem if you guys have nothing to do with your time, I've got about 3 more minutes to "sit here" and argue with you about how its so difficult for someone to say "Obama put a temporary ban on one country, and not a race".
Again, get off your high horses. If there is a thread about the subject then people are going to ask questions. If you have a problem with that then you've got problems in general.
Asked about Obama’s statement in support of protesters Monday, White House press secretary Sean Spicer again defended the executive order.
“It is a shame that people were inconvenienced obviously,” he said. “But at the end of the day we are talking about a couple of hours.”
god damn what a piece of shit.

Ok, you want a quick summary?
"No, what he did was very different"
You want to be actually educated? Read the damn article. Life doesn't come in TL;DR's
