New Top Gear (UK) Host Chris Evans Gets Car Sick During Filming
New Top Gear presenter Chris Evans appeared to take a handbrake turn for the worse during filming of the BBC motoring show in California recently.
Evans was forced to make a hurried exit from an Audi R8 V10, which was being driven at the Mazda Raceway track in Monterey by co-star Sabine Schmitz, in order to be sick.
After getting out of the £134,500 luxury sports car, the 49-year-old, who was confirmed as Jeremy Clarkson's replacement last year, was photographed hunched over and retching by the side of the racetrack.
Speaking to The Sun, a source said: "It would be unfair to expect him to be perfect right from the word 'go'. But how can someone who gets car sick possibly host Top Gear?"
Evans was given a bottle of water by a member of the crew and appeared to recover quickly from the incident.
This is not the only speed bump Evans has encountered since filming began on the new series, which will air from May 8 this year.
Recent reports suggested that the TFI Friday host was struggling to talk and drive at the same time, causing him to fluff his lines repeatedly. This claim was later denied by the BBC.
Seems to me like this is going to suck, have to feel bad for Chris Evans though, big shoes to fill.
Getting car sick on a show about cars.
Oh boy.
I wanted to watch the first episode of this to see how much of a trainwreck it'll be but I'm starting to doubt if there even will be a first episode. I remember reading that half the production crew left and have been replaced by people inexperienced with vehicles, along with numerous other problems and setbacks.
How do you get carsick when driving a car? When I get car sick its from sitting in the back and trying to read something.
They should write this into the episode / maybe they already have. "The new Audi R8, so powerful it will make you vomit".

As far as I know chris evans has over 10 million pounds worth of cars. I somehow doubt he's prone to car sickness.
Because Clarkson would never get car sick

What are you talking about, Jeremy Clarkson is a god and has never ever made a mistake. Ever.
that's fucking hilarious

Even then, Doctor who's future is also uncertain
Jeremy will probably spit out his tea when he reads about this in his morning paper
Every time you hear about new "Top Gear" it's always bad. Evans simply can't compare to his predecessors, either in personality and charisma, or simply doing the actual mundane bits.

That's hardly the same. Spinning around in circles at high speeds makes everyone sick.
Top Gear is doomed.

Evans was a passenger in the car, not the driver, which generally is much more likely to make you car sick. I can't imagine it really being an issue for the show.

As far as I know the guy has food poisoning or a hangover.
they should rename it Lowest Gear
The only reason I would ever watch this is because Sabine Schmitz is pretty cool
Which is not enough of a reason to watch this over the new series the old Top Gear crew are making, you just cant beat the synergy between Clarkson, Hammond and May
So, Sabine is confirmed? HELL YES. Now, only if the Chris Harris rumor was confirmed...
Are we really believing a word The Sun has to say? 'A reliable source told us...' is sneaky secret code for 'here is some bullshit'. It's infinitely more likely he had an upset stomach and/or was hungover
Can't wait for Maximum Overdrive though.
Sounds like clickbaot for avid new cast top gear haters

This needs to be highlighted in the OP, he was being driven around until he was sick
Also a lot of unbased speculation in the article, the shoe probably will relaunch just fine, and it will take a while, certainly the Clarkson relaunch didn't get things right from the get go, they had 3-4 seasons before everything was sorted out
oh boy finally an article confirming my hate for change!

Not directed at you, but:
Considering how it's a British newspaper reporting on a British show, I'd say that phrasing sounds more like him getting sick was not intended whatosever, rather than being part of the script.
That and the fact that the rest of the article is written like it was an accident. :v:

I know you probably meant it in jest, but it's pretty obvious that was a fake vomit just for the sake of humor... fake vomit sound effects and all.
I just can't imagine Chris Evans driving a car and giving an enjoyably humorous breakdown of what the car is like. Is it just me? He always seems like such a serious little guy. Granted I'm australian and really haven't seen a lot of what he's done over there but still.
Also Sabine drives like a fucking maniac so I don't exactly blame him. Still, harden up mate.
I dunno, they are kinda nitpicking on the new Top Gear show. I mean the trio were in the industry for years and the new bunch of guys are brand new so it takes time for them to get used to this whole new type of presenting.
I won't be watching the new Top Gear because for me the three originals was what made Top Gear, Top Gear. But yeah every bit of news that gets published is negative, so i don' take this articles that serious anymore.
This will just become a running gag I bet, and a retarded one at that.
It was funny in Jackass when the camera man kept vomiting, not in a car show from car sickness.
